1997 35ft Land Yacht - Any Others Out There?

We purchase our L/Y last July and loving it. Have not seen any others on this post. Anyone out there with the same? Anyone know how many were made? Hubby says it is a 6 litre diesel.

Welcome to the Air Forums and congratulation on your Cutter purchase.

On the upper bar, highlight FORUMS, and a dropdown menu gives you motorhomes. Look under "FLAT FRONT, CLIPPER, CUTTER, XC, XL", etc. for all your information.

Happy travels.

Dave

Hi Dave,

We are a bit confused. Our papers say we have a 1997 Airstream Land Yacth, 35 foot diesel pusher. But, when we did our profile, we could not find it on the drop down list. We did find a 1996, wonder if we have a 96 built and registered in 97?

It is on a frieghtliner chassis with a cummins turbor diesel engine. I have seen similar, but, they are 30-32 feet, not the 35 foot as ours. It also has 35 painted on the side. Maybe we should get the tape measure out.

Any info appreciated.

I believe you.

Go to the Airstream site to confirm.Airstream, Inc :: 1990's

Try this thread for a good explaination.
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f313...tml#post892546

You got one of the last ones with a Cummins so you did good.

But most of your info will be in the Cutter thread, not the Land Yacht.

Fred has a good site also. Fred is also on the site here. He has a lot of detail on his site, but it appears your model /yr picture is not on there yet.

Thanks Dave,

We are in Australia at the moment, departing to the USA next week to get our L/Y out of storage. Will spend the next five months traveling.

Will post photos and more details then. It is a great m/h, it came with all the original books and service details. The prior owner took very good care of it.

Looking forward to many years of travel in it.

Debbie, try this:

Info from Airstream for the 1997 35' Land Yacht, Wide Body, Diesel Pusher.

Standard Features
http://www.airstream.com/files/libra...0f8c945255.pdf

Price List
http://www.airstream.com/files/libra...491c94a9cc.pdf

Parts Book
http://www.airstream.com/files/libra...b91f85cd92.pdf

According to available information, the 35' Land Yacht, Wide Body, Diesel Pusher was made through at least year 2000. For some unknown reason, The Forum just doesn't show it in the profile pull-down.

Hope some of this helps....

They have a "CUTTER". A lot of the items are the same on both units, but the body style is different with the flat front and larger basement, and no rear window.

I think the model needs confirmation??

Your avatar image shows a Land Yacht, not a Cutter.
The Land Yacht has the slopped windshield and the Cutter
has the bus style upright window.

Your CUTTER might have a front entrance door, and the Land Yacht would always have a side mid-body door.

Which one have you got Debbie????

This is a Cutter with all detailed pictures.
http://www.campingworld.com/rvsales/...Cutter/168114/

And Fred does have one on his site now.

Dave,

We have the Land Yacth with sloped front window and side door.

These photos of our Airstream should help. Would be nice to know if any others are out there. We will be traveling the Western states for the next five months. The motor home in in Arizona at the moment, all ready for us to pick up on Thursday........

Any info or history on the motor home will be fun to have.

Debbie

Debbie,

I too have 35' Land Yacht, it was purchased by the PO in Dec of 97 though is a 98 model. We are getting ready to take it up to Alaska the end of the month. Currently we are in Tucson. I have all the manuals and documentation if you need any information.

Scott,

Thank you for the offer on the manuals. When we bought the L/Y in July, it had all the papers, service records, even the sales slip from 1997. The original owner put in all the upgrades.

We store the L/Y in the Tucson area, at the moment we are travelling north via the Pacific Coast, hope to get over to Calgary and back down toward Tucson early September.

Alaska sounds great, maybe next year.

I have one!! Just bought it in April 2015 with only 45k miles and fully loaded. Has the larger 275hp Cummins also. Love it...can not wait to get back on road when the Montana weather warms up.

The avatar photo of your 97 Cutter looks a lot like our 94 Land Yacht with a Cummins Turbo Diesel 5.9 liter as a pusher. It also has a drivers door and is 34 Feet 11 Inches. Great coach!

If you contact the Airstream factory in Jackson Center with both serial #'s from the front dash, they can tell you when it was made and details about the original build sheet.

If you know the red numbers that may have been on it previously, the WBCCI can provide some basic info about the location of the original owner.
