How true! And yet we all know that it's just economics. The guy who stocks windshields for your car turns his stock over every few days or weeks no doubt, but someone has to sit on those Airstream windows forever, selling some tiny number a year, and eventually we all hope that there will be enough profit to make him order a bunch of new ones, which will more than likely be twice the price. But if you are no better at making that curved safety glass and the aluminum extrusions than I am, then we'd better both be grateful that they are still available at some price.

The ones listed on Airstream Supply are 'used' so they only have them, when they are able to grab some being parted out. The glass isn't available on its own and finding someone with a spare fixed frame is your only hope. I bought a 28ft just for the windows.

There is a early 28ft being parted out in Galverston (parting out 1975 ARGOSY motor home) that has a 30" drivers side, but if the guy knows anything about the market he will be looking for $800-1000 complete, thats what they go for.

I need a curbside fixed window panel as well for my 370, just in case anyone comes across one. Maybe someone needs the sliding half??

That's a little depressing......

For the curved glass panels, what about acrylic? With prices like these, I would think it might be the cheap option.

Wasn't there a post recently about a source for replacement glass for the side windows? I was thinking you could buy the complete window assemblies or just the glass as needed.

Maybe I missed something, not unusual for me...

The very best material to use, for those windows, is called "Lexan" with abrasion resitance coating on both sides. Then you can rub that plastic with steel wool, without scratching it. Use 1/8 inch thick material. It's also immune to punching it with a fist, or very hard hits from a hammer. A hammer might dent it, but will not break it.

Do not use plexiglass or acrylic plastics. They are cheap, but break very easily.

Thanks Andy. I believe it was Lexan that a classic car friend told me about. He said that it is possible to get any windshield, no matter the shape, matched in Lexan, but that the material is so hard that it wears out wiper blades. This would be worth investigating.

The hardness is a good question, but I do not have an answer.

But I can tell you, that I have yet to break a scrap piece of Lexan, hitting it pretty hard even with a ball peen hammer.

But, I would also add, that UNITED PARCEL SMASHERS (UPS) managed to break a Lexan window that we had wrapped in 1 inch bubble wrap, and in a new box that gave the Lexan 3 inches of clearance, all the way around.

Martin, it turns out the one I was thinking of is Airstream Supply which has been mentioned all ready. I didn't realize they were used items. I mistakenly thought someone was making new window assemblies

Sorry for the confusion!

Hi Andy and all. I called the craigslist guy in Texas parting out 75 argosy. He would sell me the window but wanted me to come remove. Never did get down to price. but ca to Texas not practical. Think will do the lexan repair that Andy suggests. The price for lexan is about 75 bucks. That and some siek-o-flex should be ok. My only concern is tinting but will deal with that after replaced. Ill post when done so if interested you can judge for yourself.
