Where did you drive your Classic Airstream Motorhome today?
Since I'm driving on 9 and 11 year old tires, ALL of my camping is local till the bank account (or lotto) shows enough $ to buy 9 new tires. Drove through Pinellas County, to a local campground to spend the Christmas Holiday weekend with Full-Timer friends who winter here in Florida.
The old girl did pretty well with all of the after-Christmas 'rush' around here. All stop and go traffic, no idiots today tested my braking system by pulling out in front of me.
All in all, a great 4 day weekend. May just do it again next weekend too!
Thanks, Derek

Yahoo. It's good that you're getting out & using your AS. Ours can't wait to roll down the road again. A hectic work schedule last summer made even local trips out of the question.

Guess I just missed you. Was passing Tampa the week before Christmas on a trip to Ft meyers and then onto Ocala for 5 days. (one of my favorite St Parks - Sliver River) Am considering mid Feb Sarasota rally. Haven't tried one of those for many years. I would guess we will end up in the same place by chance. Happy motoring!

Raveson,
Planning a day trip to the FL State Rally, probably that Saturday, I'll be on the lookout for your Airstream. If someone knocks on your door......
Thanks, Derek

Say hello to all for us; we're heading down to Organ Pipe to see if we can hook up with Anita @ Coastal Me.

AIR Sticker
Anyone notice, I'm PROUDLY displaying my AIR sticker in my front windshield. Sticker actually 'helps' me with placement of the moho while driving, lol!
Thanks, Derek

no pix, but had a 'request' from visitors from Kansas City for a ride in the Classic Airstream motorhome. Pulled out of the drive at 4:03pm, and was backing it back i the drive at 5:03. Getting pretty good at getting the beast in and out of drive. Maybe I'll just video my parking situation one day. TIGHT squeeze!
Thanks, Derek

This time, instead of photos, I had a video taken by my brother. My parents, brother and sister in law were all over from Central Florida to visit this afternoon. 1st time any of them have seen the Airstream.
Decided that a short ride in the Airstream was called for. Drove through the neighborhood that I deliver mail to, pointing out all of the Craftsman style houses in that neighborhood.
But, had to get the 'beast' back into the driveway before it started getting too dark.

While out driving on December 30th, I pulled the Airstream over at a business I deliver mail to. It's called the Craftsman House, established in an old Craftsman house in Saint Petersburg, FL.
The items sold in the Craftsman House are all produced by local and national artists.
I've already bought 2 of these glass windchimes, but noticed that there is one for sale that has the colors of the Airstream perfectly!
Hmmm, maybe a birthday present to myself this year?
What do you think?

Hey Derek,
Loved that video. It's great to see these things in motion.
I forgot that you had the blue paint scheme. I.M.H.O. that is the best color combination ever. It just works so well with the silver tone of the aluminum. I know you've talked about polishing, but it looks like its in great shape as is.
Gotta admit though, I was holding my breath as you backed up to the garage. I thought for sure that you were going to take off the driver's side mirror. Whew.

Another uneventful trip (yay!)
After all the drama getting the 310 on the road a couple of years ago it has been smooth sailing. Another trip from northern Calif to Phoenix and back for Christmas with Deirdre's family. All fine -- no surprises!
We have about 4000 miles on the engine rebuild now and in that time have seen significant reductions in temperatures and more power. The steep pull on the trip from the southland up the coast is the 7% Cuesta grade, we can do about 25 mph in first, where it topped out at 18-20 before, in both cases towing a 2200 pound Tracker. The AS is a little heavier than usual with its 105 gallon fuel tank (about 2/3 full) and 300 lbs of extra battery. Saw 75 mph on I10 on the flats in Arizona.

Hi Charly,
Glad you enjoyed the video. Hoping next time to get my regular vidcam out, since this video was shot on my iPhone. No trips this week in Airstream, full week of work, but have all next week off to play in Airstream, so maybe a trip down to Fort DeSoto for a beach day!
Thanks, Derek

Looks like I've got visitors from out of state at neighbors. Have promised a 'ride' in the Airstream, and may see if he can't help me with suggestions concerning Univolt removal and replacement. Did discover last time out, by trying to fiddle with ignition switch, I've managed to disconnect speedo and tachometer. Oh well, gotta get that working before any travels.....
Will post pix if we get anywhere special in St Pete, FL

Does driving x-country count as a trip?
