Traveling with Dogs

It would be great if Airstream built an optional ramp than can be fixed over the stairs for dogs (and stored in an outside compartment), especially older dogs that have trouble walk up and down stairs.
Does anyone know of an outside company that sells dog ramps for RVs that would fit in the door of the 30ft classic international models?

Welcome to the forum! These generic search results from Amazon, for "ramp aluminum," may have some ideas worth pursuing. Making sure that the ramp is secure where it crosses the door threshold is very important obviously.

https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...=ramp+aluminum

Also, the new search function in the blue box above works great, so you might find earlier posts on-point. For example"dog ramp folding" yields:

The results are often on a generator thread about hauling a gen up a ramp -- FWIW.

Good luck!

Peter

There are more options than you can imagine. Try "folding pet ramp" or "dog ramp" on Google for a quick list.

A few samples for bigger dogs:

There are many ramps for dogs to get into vehicles.
Most fold in half, and it's still a large item to store, but would fit in a pickup bed or cargo area. I have seen tri-folding one's also.

First, acclimate the dog to walking on it on the ground, so he won't be afraid of falling.

This is the official 370LE approved dog ramp, stows away nicely when not in use. Perfect for a "Lumixx " or my dog "Hanns" Regards, Bob

Good suggestions.

Bob do you have a link, or manufacturer's name, for your ramp? The 3-way fold makes for a nice suitcase size IMO.

Here is another from Amazon:

OTRA15 - see the Walmart link in post #3 for that ramp.

We used this for our older 70# lab-hound to get up into the truck. Might work for you. http://www.discountramps.com/folding-dog-ramp/p/62332/

Got it on Amazon.

Thanks SeeMore. Surprised it weighs 26 lbs, vs. 10 for Al's ramp in the last post. I guess the extra length calls for a heavier duty ramp, but it does permit a more gradual slope.
