This happens when I get bored over the holidays. I replaced all of the 5 upper panels on this 1990-25 trailer. First time I used the Airstream black panel tape, rather than the gray stuff. It behaves a lot better as in keeping its shape during installation. Only draw back is the black color peeking out here and there after it get compressed by the rivets.
I also installed the Houghton, low profile, super quiet AC for the first time on this trailer. I wished i would have used it on the MH as well. Only drawback is the inability to connect it to an interior drain line.
Happy New Year!

Peter, you make it all look so easy!
You are definitely a Rivet Master!
Looked up the air units, really like that they come with a wireless remote!

Any Airstream dealer can order them from the factory. Its better to do some research to make sure they order the right one. ODMRV.com has a good selection with part numbers online.

Yes, Chris wireless control with a display on the cover showing the temp. you can turn that off at night. No backup manual buttons...But it sure is quiet!!
I posted the panel replacement work on Facebook and caught all kinds of flag about using Olympic rivets. Man, folks have no clue, how I do it and what I go through to make it leak free. Almost pulled the post, I was so disgusted.

Peter, I saw that on FB and I guess I wasn’t surprised. I have to say that after all these years, any advice from Peter is good advice!

I dealt with it my way and deleted the entire thread and will no longer post on that public media. When the comments get personal and turn into attacks, its time to move on.
I did get quite a bit positive feedback and several sincere requests for panel replacements.....

Sorry to hear that Peter, their loss!
I have been off FB since the foot ball games debacle! Haven't missed it at all! I leave all the FB stuff to the wife![emoji12]

Got my Blackstone oil analysis back and it looks look. A high copper reading I had on my first report went down to more normal levels and no coolant or dirt in the oil. I have pretty much no oil usage, so looks like a solid engine.
On my quest to figure out the dim oil pressure warning light, I ran a heavy jumper cable directly from the Negative batteries to the engine block with no changes.
Two adventurous guys from Germany flew into San Francisco on Thursday and are currently in LA to pick up a 310, one them purchased a few month ago. I did my best to remotely "inspect" it, looking at many pictures and talking with the PO. Their first trip upon arrival was to an autoparts store to pick up an Ignition control module, plug wires and a can of Seafoam. Next they went to Lowes and purchased as craftsman toolset
I dropped shipped a starter and an alternator to the PO's house. Their first assignment is to check all the rubber fuel lines in the engine compartment and to make sure they have a fire extinguisher on board.
Then they will drop off their rental car and get on IH 10 east to Austin.
After spending a week here, they will drop the 310 in Galveston, Tx to be shipped to Germany.
I really wanted him to buy Cmadmaxman's 310, but he already had put down a deposit, when Chris mentioned that his was up for sale.
Stay tuned.

yesterday they cruised down the coast to San Diego and spent the night in an RV park and today they got stuck at Inland RV in Corona, Ca. They have been there for 3 hours now. Look at their goodies table.
I am not going to mention that they forgot to check the oil when they picked up the 310 and this morning it was very low...Freaky

The Transmission in the 310 turned out to be a 4l80e, after the PO insisted it was a 700R. A picture I shared with Chris a while back, appeared to be the trans pan of a 4l80e, which is confirmed now. Here it is in action on IH 10 going east

Since our friends arrived on Saturday afternoon, it has been a non stop trouble shooting and repair event. We stopped late Saturday evening for some oversized grilled steaks, by request of our guests.
The list was huge and very difficult at times, since I encountered the typically wiring mess, I have seen many times over:
The rear Airbags were flat and the compressor was not kicking in. Found massively melted original wires. Rewired to make it work and they will add a relay later. I just will assume that the bags were full when they left LA and deflated on the way. Any other scenario is too terrifying to think about
The heater motor did not work. Rewired and fixed it.
Checked brakes all around, pads, rotors and rubber lines passed. I had to explain that the power steering fluid reservoir was not the brake fluid. Master cyl passed
Fixed extremely dangerous Trans fluid leaks at hose clamp running to the trans color. Check your darn rubber hose clamps, 50 miles after replacing them!!
Tidied up several dangerous wires about to get shorted out by whatever.
Pulled vacuum on the AC system and recharged it . Blowing super cold air now.
Replaced one of the cockpit window seals to make it operable and made sure the leveling system had fluid and worked as intended.
Time to go back to work tomorrow, after a restful weekend
