Did it say somewhere in your instructions that you can't electrically reverse the fan?
I don't think mine came with any such info and I know I've reversed the direction on other fans that I've purchased. A little googling indicated that some fans can be electrically reversed and others can't.
I'll have to see if the ones I put on the Argosy are reversible. I'll let you know...

Mine said they can be reversed by flipping the blades. Reversing the current doesn't do anything.
I just tried mine and they do turn freewheeling the same direction as when they are turned on.

Peter, ignore the following if you know all this..
Fan blades (propellers) are usually shaped like small "wings".. When spun, they generate "lift" which translates to air movement. Wings (airfoils) are shaped to be most "efficient" when moved through the air in a specific direction called "relative airflow". Lift changes based upon wing shape, and maintaining laminar flow.... Now, if blade is symmetrical, it generates "lift" In either direction, forward or back.
Now the aeronautical engineers may argue this to death... But don't pick fly shy# out of pepper.....even a brick can fly.
I think You will be pleased with AC improvement and increase in radiator efficiency.
BTW, On one car I stuffed some AC tubing insulation between the condenser and radiator... Made a noticeable improvement ... By keeping the air contained and not leaking...So, pay attention to that relationship...
(Oh.. I suppose you are sure the radiator And condenser are "clear"...)

Is that NOS? I prob can cancel my order if you want to sell me that one. It would make the wiring much easier, since i would not have to change anything

Not NOS. It came from the 345.
If you want to cancel your order I can ship you this one.

I requested to cancel the order, but may be too late. Let you know, thanks Brad
Any reason to think that the older technology is not as good as new transfer switches or vice versa?
Mine has intermittent problems, just shuts the shore power off and sometimes takes a long time to switch to gen power (close to 90 secs to 2 mins)

It sounds like you placed your order at about the same time I found this one laying on the shelf. I was looking for the wire connectors for my evaporator box blowers and noticed it sitting there. I had forgotten that I had it. Sorry about that!

Well, the older technology lasted for 30 years which isn't to bad if you ask me.
There are a few electronic components inside that you could probably replace at minimal cost. Not much else can go wrong with them as they are pretty simple devices.

I wonder how well the Airstream shell would act as a Faraday Cage to protect the inside electronics from an EMP?
Sorry... It's 3am.. And I can't sleep... This is the madness my mind works on in the wee hours

I am not sure if I am clear, after reversing the blades it quit blowing to the front, but it does not really blow towards the back
There is no way these fans could be mounted the other way, since that would expose the rotating blades.
|
Well, there was a way to mount the fans the other way, it just took a little creativity. I just wasn't happy with the (non-existing) airflow after I reversed the blades.
Now I have a strong stream of air blowing all the way into the engine compartment.

Was supposed to be just a little job, installing the transfer switch, Brad send me. That part was actually easy, since it was an identical unit, I just swapped the guts out.
Then when I was ready to test it the 30 amp plug literally fell apart in my hand. So off to HDepot for a new plug. Plugged it in and all was fine.
Ready to try the generator next. Dead battery, no way, all this stuff was working just fine yesterday. I could have fired up the engine to get the genny started but having a new alternator, I really didn't want to mess with a bad battery. Sure enough 11/2010. So off to the auto part store for a new battery and may as well get those 40 amp breakers, I wanted to install in the Battery drawer. After I pulled the old battery out, I noticed a ton of rust under the battery. So there we go scrape, wire brush and spray some of the rust primer.
There went an entire afternoon with one thing leading to the other....and not even a good picture to show off all I did

If you hadn't bothered to replace the transfer switch you wouldn't have all these other problems....

Tilly's (my 310 Motorhome) little sister, the beautiful 1984 31 Limited trailer found a nice young family to live with. I spent 3 hours to dial the hitch in for Angela, the wife, and she drove into the sunset all the way to Louisiana with her young daughter to meet up with her husband and son for their first big campout.
Here is the picture after their first night

On my quest for my next trailer project and search for the perfect trailer for long distance travel, I came across this posting on Airforumsclassifieds:
This is a 1986 25′ Airstream Sovereign that is in mostly original condition. The following things have been done to it:
- New laminate flooring
- Roof resealed
- New fridge
- New hot water heater
I’ve taken this beauty on numerous trip and she’s handled great. Title in hand. Asking $15,000 obo
I contacted the seller and after many days of negotiation and pictures and written inquiries, we drove all the way to Midland, Texas (300 miles) to pick up this "beauty". I had insurance coverage and a certified check for the seller (which i can redeposit in my account, something I made sure before)
This is what I found:
1. Rotten subfloor
2. House Refer poorly installed instead of "NEW" refrigerator
3. very poorly installed sheet VINYL instead of NEW laminate flooring
4. Extreme rust on frame and outriggers
5. Big Dent on rear center panel
6. Propane gas lines disconnected and hanging loose under the trailer
7. Banana wraps hanging loose in several places
8. very messy waterlines
9. Curtains dry rotted and falling apart
10. Plastic interior endcaps cracked in all directions
11. Wooden cabinet doors falling apart or extremely modified
12. kitchen formica top falling apart
13. Stove rusty and scratched up.
14. I never got to check out any of the plumbing or electrical systems.
Amazingly enough, all pictures posted and/or requested by me were strategically taken to hide the issues.
Buyer beware !!

Ah yes, selective strategic photography can really mislead. But don't the sellers know all will come to light upon inspection?
I guess they are hoping for a buyer that will pay and ship it sight unseen.
Sorry about your wasted trip.
I my ongoing search for a base camp property to buy, I've found that google street and over head view goes a long way to defeat this practice, and fill in the surrounding picture/ reality.
Works well for property, not so useful in your case. Bummer.
Cheers Richard
