Glad the trip went smooth, sorry to hear about the break in. Unfortunately it seems the greater Denver area is becoming more and more like the next LA

In a big way! When we left Boulder a few tears ago the biggest problem was people not picking up after their dogs. They tried implementing a DNA tracking and enforcement system. Now they are sampling poop piles to track Covid among the homeless that are camping out along Boulder creek. The trash and used drug paraphernalia is disgusting.

Boulder has always had a small seasonal homeless panhandler population. I’ve seen the same people harassing the tourists in Key West and San Diego during the winter months. The problem exploded when Colorado legalized pot.

I did learn that when you pay for “secure” storage there is no expectation of security. I did get a sorry your unit got broken into. They did fix a yard light.

Depending on the agreement you signed, and how much the damages are, I wonder if they might be liable if they advertised security. Even if not watertight, a letter from a lawyer might get some money out of them.

Do you know if you're able to source the parts needed for the repair? Or will you be hunting for a unit being parted out?

I had storage insurance on it. I have to have an adjuster look at it. The rental place guy was nice didn’t charge me for the whole month of October. I think the window parts are still available. The door will probably have to be rebuilt. It should be a common part for that era.

Now that I have this project home and as much as I like collecting things, it time to let someone else enjoy my 95. I’d like to get $50k for it. Click image for larger version

The rebuilt Allison transmission controller (ECU) came back back from Transmission Instruments today. Not sure what all they replace but these 25 year old WTec II apparently have some electrolytic capacitors that fail with age. It had a failed internal power supply. They did install a new faceplate and keypad.

The symptoms had me barking up the wrong tree. Turned the key on and the shifter didn’t light up. Then the starter wouldn’t turn. No power to the solenoid. This happened right after a long sit. Turns out there is a safety relay in the transmission system that inhibits the starter until the ECU says ok.

Plugged the ECU in and it fired right up!

The airbags pumped up so I took it for a ride around the farm.

I’ve got new airbags, leveling valves, and shocks on the way. The 25 year old bags are pretty cracked but the leaks are in the control valves. I had hoped to take care of that in Colorado and drive it to Michigan. The vandalism changed that plan. Glad it’s back here where I can start working on it.

I do indeed! The more I get into it the more I like it. It’s is really is in excellent condition except for the finish, trim, and graphics. The downside of a life in the Carson City Nevada sun. The underside looks like a new vehicle. 6k on a factory reman engine. PO tried to make Cheyenne with no oil pressure due to loose air pump.

I’ve already been through the most of the mechanical stuff.

The skins are in great shape. Good candidate to polish it out. Front and rear bumper covers (banana wrap) are real bad. Been trying to find a set. In might end up pulling molds off the 95 and making a fiberglass set.

It definitely is not a project for a streamer that asks what color is the carpet, has it ever been smoked in, or has a pet ever traveled in it?

We are in no hurry but will sell the 95 when this one is ready to hit the road.

If your system has the hadley control valves, make sure to only use the genuine hadley and not hadley style. The first has time delay. But the way you are doing things, I am sure you are on top of this as well.

I replaced all 8 leveling system springs today. Before leaving it in Boulder I put it up on the jacks to keep most of the weight off the new Michelins. Also parked it some Teflon cutting mats to protect them from the asphalt.

When we got out there a couple weeks ago we found one side with the tires off the ground and the other side down. All but 2 of the leveling springs had failed. Broke off at the bottom hook. Had to release the pressure and pry them to the retracted position.

New springs showed up from HWH so I did some research on installing them. “Messed” around with the first one for about two hours before coming up with this:

The other 3 took a total of 20 minutes.

I could probably fit 5 or 6 around the fire pit and a few on the other side of the drive. I’ve got one 50 amp, water, and sewer hookup plus a dump station. I’ve thought of hosting a get together out here.
