Tank for 310

Hello,

I'm in the phase of ordering the parts for my new tank (0.190" aluminium sheets). Can someone look at my design - is my baffle design good enough?

Size: 57" length, 27.5" width, 17.13" height front, 13,37" height rear

I don't know enough about baffle layout, but the few times I glanced inside one of my tanks, I saw much bigger spaces in between the baffles. I do wonder why your fuel inlet/vent is on the end versus the side and why you have 2 pickup tubes of the same length? Generator pickup is typically shorter.
Are you using a skip guard to protect the softer aluminum?

Can't say I know a ton about baffle design, but some of those chambers don't seem to have airflow cutouts on the top

For scientific reasons I filled the old tank with water and cut the top out...
there is one small baffle in it... so I will redesign my tank a little bit.

I thought about adding a L metal bracket at the front to protect it against road debris.
My pickup/return/vent setup is like this:
2 pick up tubes, 1 for the fuel pump and 1 in case I want to add a second tank
2 Return - same reason (I would add a transfer pump, so you fill tank one and transfer to tank 2)
1 Vent with flip protection.
1 Marine fuel level sender

The filling to the rear has the reason that I want my fuel fill in the back, hidden under the license plate so that I can close the holes in the Frame C channel. My Plan is to fold the license plate up and have water, diesel, electric power under it. With this length of tank I have enough space behind it to mount the spare tire under floor, between the c frame channels.

Not so sure, I would want the fuel fill in the back out of rear impact concerns, but I have a gasoline engine. With a diesel power engine, I suppose your fuel source for the generator is propane?

Yes it will be diesel. I saw it on a few other motorhomes and it looks way cleaner for me and solves a lot of issues in the interior for me. I won't have a generator at all. My plan is to use solar and for darker periods I will have a 200Amp/28VDC alternator from a Humvee mounted. It will be for the batteries and while driving it will drive the electric aircon compressor.

I finished the design for the tank. I'll get my last accessories tomorrow and if the dimensions are correct I will order the aluminum and keep you posted how it turns out.

To end this thread.. here is the result:
- 95 Gallon, fits under 310 Motorhome
- Aluminum Construction
- plate for fuel level sensor, pickup tube, return etc
- filler neck and vent to the back - I want to have fuel fill from the back
- The flatbed truck picture shows that the angle at the end matches perfectly the line to the bumper. So the approach angle of the motorhome is not compromised
