side panel removal
So I've got the drivers seat out to be recovered and I'm looking at the side panels and can't figure out how it remove them. I took the two screws I can see out, but that didn't free anything up.
Would like to put more/new insulation/sound proofing in the cavity.
Would like to replace the carpet adding something like 'Ez-cool' insulation as a under-layer while the seat's gone too but can't get my 'lets get it' hat on.

Since a PO took out my side panels years ago, I can't help you but try lifting it up to see if it unhooks from an upper track along the window ledge.
Cheers
Tony

Mel,
The side panels aren't really meant to be removed. I don't remember exactly how they were fastened in place but I seem to remember there were a lot of carpet staples involved. I believe when the carpet was applied to the panels they used a staple gun and the staples shot into the aluminum skin as well.
All I can say is be prepared to use a few choice words while trying and feel free to invent a few new ones if you feel like it!
Brad

I am curious about them also. I tried to run my rear view camera wires behind the drivers side and eventually gave up and ran them along the corner with the floor.
On my 84 they seem to be glued on?

Funny, a search using "side panel removal" found this thread on the first try:

This thread was at the top and the one you provided the link to, was nowhere on the first page of results....

I see in 'PUNCH's pictures that it looks like the cavity is full of insulation. Seeing that I think I'll leave well enough alone.
Saying that I need to remove the sofa to do the carpet.

I mounted my side cameras just below the floor. They seem to work well there. Just hooked up the 'trigger' wires to the turn signals, so now I get full screen when the the turn signal on. Cool.

Mine is on coax with power and switched at the dash so that I can run my rear view or curb side view camera all the time if I like. I find the curb side handy for morons trying to pass me on the right, especially when I am hauling a trailer.
