shorty
last week while sitting outside my bambi i saw an airstream motor home drive by. now, i have never seen a motor home this short and i could swear it was shorter than my 19 footer bambi. almost was as short as a van conversion but was not a van.
looking at it as it passed i would guess it was no more than 20 foot and probably a good 25 years old.
any idea when these were made and any comments from any owners?
just curious,
david in socal

At the VAC rally last year we were parked next to a 20ft Argosy Motorhome. It was adorable! Mid 70s. I'm sure others can give you better details.

Might have been me! We drove my '77 Argosy 20' from Dana Point, CA to Riverside CA and back last Tuesday - faded dingy white paint with a dingy brown stripe, and some fancy Alcoa wheels and fancy Ramco aluminum mirrors. . .

nope not an argosy unless the paint had been removed and was polished to a mirror finish. wish i would have flagged him down to get the scoop.

Could it have been this 'custom' jobbie?

I think it is a VW/WeeWind that were "merged".

I don't know....I think it looks neat, in a goofy sort of way. It's unique, that's for sure.

There is an Argosy 20 MH out in California that has been stripped and polished, with the end caps painted bright silver. From photos I have seen, it is pretty well done.

There are Argosys around painted silver and other shades. We have also seen Airstream motorhomes painted another color as crazy as that seems.
A 20' Argosy is rare enough, and having one all polished out is really unusual.

i knew a west coaster who redid a mid 70s argosy....with full airstream trim....bumpers/grill/decals/lettering/and so on....i don't recall if it was painted airsteam silver or polished....but everyone thought is was original....
these little rigs road on smaller wheels/smaller gm chassis/drivetrain, than the other p30/454s that the larger mohos were built upon.
he was a salesman for an airsteam dealer and so the work was first rate...it really looked like a factory job, so anytime he camped near airstream experts....they couldn't figure out what "model" airstream they'd seen.
perhaps this is the coach you saw?
cheers
