Self learning EFI

Has anyone installed the latest generation EFI? The install seems straightforward and potential efficiency/reliability gains might be worth it.

My Father installed a FiTech unit on a Ford 434, he replaced a Holley 600 and I have to say that for the price it seems like an excellent unit. the tuning instructions for fine tuning have him a bit confused at times, but he has it running great now. He bought his before Holley came out with the Sniper unit, so maybe that would be the way to go now. the MSD Atomic just cost too much more, and was questionable to support his horsepower level. he also adapted a modern 4R75W 4 speed automatic, and I think he's more excited about that, overdrive helps his bronco a lot.

It's done. I mean mostly. It works anyway.

I wouldn’t expect a lot from that mod if you are running a well tuned carb now.

Your profile says a 1977 454. That was an era of emissions controls that neutered the 454 with lower compression and valve timing to reduce combustion temperatures thus NOx emission at the cost of lower performance and higher fuel consumption.

I’d consider better performing heads and cam and then the EFI if you want to see a difference.

If you are referring to Electronic Fuel Injection for cars/trucks, I have done extensive research on EFI. I'm planning, this coming spring, to convert my 1954 Chevy pickup truck street rod over to EFI. The system I'm sold on is made by FiTech EFI. They have several systems to select from based upon horse power requirements. I'm going with the 400HP unit. Their prices are extremely competitive and easiest to install and configure.
There are others aftermarket EFI unit, by Holley, MDS,....
