Rooftop storage boxes, canoes up there and other crazy thoughts at night

Anyone put a rooftop storage box, or heaven forbid a canoe on their classic motorhome's roof?

Laying in bed last night my mind was drifting with thoughts of time spent at some of our favorite natural getaway places and how much we enjoy taking our 19ft canoe into the quiet waterways.

I do have an enclosed car trailer that could certainly accommodate the canoe so I might get rigging to suspend it from the ceiling inside, but bringing the trailer won't be practical if camping in areas that will be tight going for the 345 alone.

We might actually try fitting the canoe through the side door and bring it along in the aisleway, or maybe get an inflatable that I'd store in a rooftop box?

I wonder how crazy a plan it might be to rig a light aluminum frame on the rear rooftop of my 345 that I could pull up and/or perch my canoe on. I don't want a receiver tray at the back, but OTOH that might not be bad protection for the rear if I did...

AS storage pod

I had this made for our 345LE. It holds quite a lot. Not sure about a collapsable canoe, but probably an inflatable one for sure. PM me if you want more info.

Thanks, but I don't think I want to extend the back of our 345 any farther.
