Roof Coatings
Trying to come up with a solution to:
1) cover the hail damage inflicted on the AS roof
2) reduce heat build-up in summer sun
3) ensure there's some additional sealing
Called the 2 companies that advertise their roof coatings. The least expensive was better than $4200 & the other was on the N side of $5K. Would prefer not to spend that kind of money.
Trailer folks offer a couple of options, but the product recommended in 1 case has been discontinued. Both suppliers apparently have been absorbed by GAF and I'll be calling them for recommendations.
Anyone covered their roof? What product did you use? Regrets?

I stripped the roof of the 370LE down to the original aluminum then applied 4 Coates of exposy primer then 3 Coates of glossy white paint. The primer filled all the pin hole leaks from the mis drills the factory had made, I used self leveling siliflex for the larger gaps. Regards,Bob

Bus-Kote 2150 by Hy-Tech Sales ( http://www.hytechsales.com/prod2150.html).
I was up on Bella's roof yesterday and after 2 years still looks perfect, as well as drastically dropping the heat absorbed even in direct sun-light.

When you originally applied this product, how did you prep the roof? (did you remove existing coating, air conditioner, sewer vent covers, fan curbs) My Excella's existing white paint on the roof is almost gone, see through thin, so I'm looking for options for re-coating.

+1 on Bus Kote.
If you are willing to put in the sweat equity, it'll cost you about a hundred bucks. My blog post on my job here, and yes, it really does help with heat rejection.
Edit: The comment above inserted ahead of this one as I was typing. The instructions for my job are in the blog post linked above. I did not follow the manufacturer's own instructions, at the manufacturer's recommendation. I skipped the clear coat, and I'm very glad that I did because I've since freshened it up in the manner they recommended.

Anything loose was sanded, and all joints re-sealed, then applied - it was messy and I am glad I paid someone to do it and was watching for afar!
I also missed the flex-clear sealer and so the finish is satin/non-shiny and does hold 'dirt' making cleaning a little more time consuming.

Stupid questions, could you expand on this? Danke!
Whose epoxy primer...what kind of white paint?
Also, where did you do the cut-off for the sides & front & back?
