Radiator Advice

I'm having the shop that is doing some other work on my MH also pull the radiator and send it out to be recored.

I would like to see what others that have had this done recently, paid for labor and recore charges.

How many hours of labor did your shop charge you to remove and replace the radiator?

What did it cost for the recore?

Did they pull the radiator out from the bottom or through the front grill?

Do you have any other advice based on your experience?

Thanks for your help on this, I have to give the shop the go or no go on this on Monday or Tuesday.

The only thing I can add here is that for a vehicle of this age a re-core is a great option. Essentially the only parts reused are the tanks. As to time for the job? find an old flat rate manual for the vehicle and it will give you an indication of the time involved to replace the radiator for that chases when the vehicle was new. Most shops rightfully add time to the job for the age of the vehicle and certainly for any accessories that may be "in the way". You might be surprised at how much time is involved!

Get a quote from them and see if its something you can live with. I'm usually shocked and end up doing jobs like that myself. They packed a lot of stuff up there in those engine compartments. Its another nice thing about the pusher. I have an engine room with built in lighting instead of an engine compartment.
