P30 chassis wiring question

With apologies, I am re-posting a question from the last sub forum in this section.

Can anyone tell me exactly where the transmission throttle control switch is in a 91 P30 chassis? The chassis manual (in the sticky) says:

"The switch has a two-wire connector and is mounted on a metal bracket under the dashboard to the left of the steering column above the driver's left foot" (page 8.2)

Either I am completely misunderstanding what appear to be simple instructions, or the stated placement of the switch is completely incorrect. If the actuator on the switch is supposed to be moved by the accelerator throttle linkage (closing the switch & making a circuit), it should be to the right of the steering wheel, forward of the accelerator pedal--but neither I nor my camera can find it. But it has to be somewhere.........

Surely somebody has had to replace the switch, and knows where it is?

Secondarily, GM no longer makes the switch, and Rock Auto appears not to carry it. Does anyone know who makes one?

Thanks in advance

Rob

Are you talking about the transmission kick-down control. GM previously
used a vacuum operated control. My '86 has a connection from the
intake manifold to a vacuum actuator on the side of the transmission.
Are you sure that you do not have a vacuum operated system?

Pete.

P30 chassis wiring question

All I know for sure is that the chassis manual (which appears to have been published in 1992) specifies the switch as in my post above. The diagram of the switch calls the actuator a plunger, which would indicate to me that it is probably not vacuum operated, but that is a presumption. I'll check at dusk when the temps inside the vehicle go down a bit. I checked the vacuum hoses for dry rot a few days ago, but I did not trace down their entire length.

Thanks for your question

Hi - have you looked in the 91/92 unit repair and wiring garage manuals? Links posted about post 92 in the sticky. Also, put your VIN into the AC Delco parts site. Get the ref number (if stated) for the switch and then use that to track one down. Do you have the 4l80e tranny?

p30 chassis wiring question

I believe I have the TH475 trans. And, it appears to me that the 92 manual in the sticky is incorrect with regard to the placement of the switch. I don't see how it could possibly be on a bracket under the dash above the driver's LEFT foot.

And, thanks for the AC delco tip--I will try it out.

Best,
Rob

My 1991 350LE is on a 90 model P30.

Perhaps you have the same issue?

Regards,

JD
