OBD port

So while I am digging into the back of the dash I am finding all sorts of things that donít apply to the 300. I will never need a circuit for heating up the starting coils or itís indicator light. And since I removed the gen setÖÖwell you get the idea. So while poking around I came upon three black boxes. One is for the cruise control. The other two are glued together and then glued to the back of the dash between the speedometer and tach. What are they? And is there an OBD port on these vehicles?

OBD1 started in 1991, and scanner was model specific. OBD2 started in 1996.

Oh well. I was considering a change to a digital dash. Has anyone converted a dash on a earlier motorhome? If not I will look into changing the gages. Who has done this and what brand of gages were used?

It was a little earlier on some other GM trucks e.g. late 80s.

On my 250, the chassis was stamped as Sep90 and came with OBD1 and the 4L80E. I am unclear on the vintage of the 300, but if it has a TBI, it will have the OBD1. You can short out the pins, but a much better option is the bluetooth reader which will give you real time diagnostics. Details are on the forum.
