New Steps

We bit the bullet or finally opened the wallet. After many posts and much whining about our one wobbly step I had a Kwikee electric two step installed and is it ever nice. The only problem during the installation was the battery compartment which on the 280 is right behind the steps. I had switched to larger batteries and had enlarged the tray to accommodate the new batteries. The steps hit the batteries when they retracted. I did have just enough room to move the batteries in but need to make a new hold down for them. I am glad I did not try and install the steps myself. Maybe I could have got them installed but the wiring is another thing. They have a magnetic switch which works with the screen door hooked to an over-ride switch when we are camping. This is then over-ridden by an ignition switch which will retract the steps when I forget to turn off the camping switch and try and drive away. I can only imagine how I would have wired that switch.
Anyone considering this upgrade I would strongly advise to go ahead and do it. The results are night and day entering and exiting the coach.
We are leaving tomorrow on a 6000 mile trip with our 7 month old granddaughter and I could not picture carrying her in and out on that old step.

Glad to hear it's working. Sounds like an interesting update. Have a great trip.
