Need radiator 1987 345
Yep. I need a radiator. Not having to much luck finding it. I only checked napa and car quest. Any suggestions?? Thank you! 1987 345.

Guessing you have one in your 345 now, and a radiator shop nearby, talk to them about re-coring yours.
If you don't want to go that way they should know where you could purchase a new one.

If you talk to the rad shop, they will recore and upgrade it to a HD if it is not already. How close is the fan to the rad? They will want to look at it to make any changes.
I have had rads recored on my previous vehicles and always was happy with the result.

It's still in. No one can find a new one. I really wanted a new one. A HD does sound tempting. I just spent over 8k on engine suspension. Another 2k on interior. I am not feeling this. Haha. Now radiator. Oh well. I had 5 classic Mercedes for many many years. Down to two now and this BIG classic. Ha. Ok. I wasn't sure if anyone has already replaced one knew where I could locate one or had a stock number. Yeah it's looking like re core job Thank you again. Oh here is a pic. This gets fixed during a core job?

Any competent radiator shop should be able to fix you up. New tanks, cores and whatever else you need. If you have problems finding a shop call a large truck of heavy equipment repair shop and ask them who they use.

A lot of new aftermarket radiators are made in india, they are made of lighter weight metal. I would recore with an american made core. A long established radiator shop is where i would go, they can resolder the fitting in your bottom tank also.

Yes. For sure. They are going to call me when it's out so I can look at what else I need to sink money into. Ha. It's about a 45 min away from my home. Think what you may want me to check out, I will be happy to help.

Who knows when mine will need the same.
I would like to know the overall width and height, and thickness.
A photo of where the fitting are too, but I am thinking to go without the inbuilt Transmission cooler... one less thing to go wrong. A external one works far better anyway.
I am going to look at what Aluminum radiators are available.

I hear all the time how hot they always run, as mine did too. It just seems everyone tells me to re core. It doesn't have an exterior radiator cooler? Didn't know that.

Mine has an exterior cooler mounted in front of the radiator... but I am not sure if its for transmission, or an oil cooler.
My 1987 3/4T Suburban has a 454, and has both trans and engine oil coolers... seems crazy not to have both.
One of my favorite "Local" places is Death Valley, and as I am planning pleanty of visits there, with my 5000lb jeep in toad mode, I better be prepared!
I am planning to add a deeper transmission pan... maybe one of those vented ones, and a fan assisted trans cooler, mounted underfloor... no reason to drag the pipes 10' forward!

I am interested in this . I am taking my radiator in this week to get recored.
If I go without the internal cooler does that mean I get more water volume?
And how big of an external cooler would I need?

You will not get more water capacity, but you loose the risk of a coolant leak into the transmission line, that Will distroy the transmission very quickly..
Down side is that the coolant does not warm the trans fluid at start up.
I will give you some Idea of size later.. dashing out the door to get something for the "What did you buy today" Thread!
