Mystery light on 1982 280 Excella Dash
Trying to figure out all of the workings of my 1982 280 Excella. On the dash there are 4 lights (leds).
one Blue - Bright lights
two green - left and right turn signal respectively
one red - ???
What does the red led indicate?
TIA

Is it on when the step is deployed?
Is there a brake system warning light anywhere?
Does it go out when the engine starts?

I have a red light above my ignition key. It indicates that the ignition is on . i have a deisel engine that you have to pull the rod out to kill the motor.

I know it isn't the step light.
From left to right the lights are:
Green Blue Red Green
I thought the Red indicator might be an alternator warning light. I haven't noticed it illuminated before. However, yesterday it came on and now stays on anytime the engine is started. I pulled the alternator and had it tested. It is good.

It should be the door interlock, on when the door is open/unlocked. off when closed/locked.

How do the brakes feel???
The red light on the dash in mine (same dash as yours) is for a failure in one side of the braking system. You may have a leaking master or wheel cylinder that is causing the proportioning valve to feed more fluid to one circuit. if that is the case you will get the red light. Check the brakes.

Right. Red means stop.
Of course, depends on what the engineers considered important enough to get you to stop, but it is meant to get you to stop and check something, such as:
Brake system
Oil pressure
Alternator
Water Temperature
A door open

Sorry to have given you the wrong info on the red light. My wife reminded me it was the emergency brake light. We use the emergency brake light when we park it on inclines. The light comes on when you apply it. On our 82 310 the only warning devices we have on the dash are all gauges.

JISOM 12,
Thenewkid64 is right on the money, it is the brake warning light. Do take care of this problem pronto. I can attest it is not a good feeling when the MOHO does not want to stop.
