Great picture. I'm sure it doesn't do justice to actually being there.

Is it just me, or is anyone else slightly queasy at the sight of a hundred or so inhabited, essentially pilotless, fragile, at the whim of the winds, hundreds of feet up, and in very close proximity to each other, craft???

Just like the Paras jumping out of perfectly good working aircraft, these wacko's are in aircraft with no bloody engine......or rudder for all that matters.

Somewhere there's a powerline somewhere that's drooling.

Neat picture, but if you don't mind, I'm staying on terra firma thanks.

Cheers
Tony

Would love to have flown around during that?

Tony
Only a couple of them hit power lines and one hit a fence. I think that is pretty good out of 500 balloons.
Yesterday the wind was crazy and they were landing between the Airstreams.

If you get the chance to give it a try - grab it Tony.

There is no perception of movement at all (simply because you are travelling at the same speed as everything around you).

The landings can be a little rough though.....this is us being dragged along the ground backwards....only for about 50ft and even then everyone was smiling!

And any 'landing' you can walk away from is a good landing

I'm with you about jumping out of a perfectly good plane, Tony.

But floating up in these big balloons is great.

Sure looks green down there, are you sure we are still in N M.

Wow that's a big basket, notice all the smiles even while dragging on their sides.
It realy is a neat way to be in the sky, just floating along.
I did see one motor up wind once by blasting his burner and opening down wind flaps. Was about to blow offshor

Albuquerque sure does get a lot of visitors in for the ballon fest.
Tight parking seems the norm.

How's your spot.

Cheers Richard

I have been up a few times Richard, those photos were from a flight back in the UK.

The coast line you can see is the English Channel.

Part of the reason for ending up going sideways on landing was we had to get down quick because the coast was coming up a little too quickly!
