We are home from our 18 day journey through the Great Lakes, Montreal to Minneapolis by way of Jackson Center and the Aloha State Park in Michigan. Had to stay there since we live in the Aloha state. Thanks again to Brad Kahler for the custom Ramco mirror setup, I did not realize how bad the original mirrors were until driving with these.
I was convinced that the frame around the sliding window by the driverís seat would have to be bent to get the window to close all the way again, but an old timer in the service department at Jackson Center bumped the schegle (sp?) channel over with a wood strip and we were on our way in a half hour.
The 310 did great, previous vapor lock problem only came up on two hot days in Ohio. Even then it was nowhere near as bad as it was before I wrapped the fuel line to the carb.
The 310 is stored near the airport in Minneapolis until we fly back in September to finish our tour of the country and make it to momís 90th birthday party in Montana.
Had no luck finding a mechanic to leave it with in Minneapolis. Needs at least one carrier bearing and u-joint and has a belt that squeals for no apparent reason at startup in the morning, the colder the weather the longer it squeals. Also needs LOF and coolant changed. If anybody knows a Minneapolis mechanic adventurous enough to pull it out of the EZ Air Park there and work on it by Sept. 19, would appreciate their info. Otherwise, we will hopefully limp on into Montana and get it done there.
