Headed for Tevake’s place today, just a short drive from where we are in Alabama. Richard has a really sweet piece of property just about 25 mins from the coast.

We landed at Grayton Beach State Park this past Monday after a great visit with Tevake (Richard) at his place just about 20 miles or so away. This is really a lovely park, the spots are big and carved out of jungle so lots of vegetation between sites. Our site is totally private with a short path leading to a good sized lake just steps away. Very very cool, we will definitely come back to this park. We have two weeks here to enjoy before we move to Topsail a few miles down the road.
Had a great time visiting with Richard at his little slice of paradise, he’s got himself a beautiful couple acres just far enough away from the gulf to not have to deal with snow birds like us. HEY, we were invited!
We have taken the motorcycle out for some exploring and groceries. They have a paved road in the park here that leads right down to the beach.....probably a half mile hike from our site.
Ranger came by a bit ago warning us that a good size storm is blowing in tomorrow so everyone needs to either stow or lash anything outside of your rig.
Hopefully it will be a fun storm to ride out and no damage done. No big trees to worry about on our site.

It just now hit Dave. Just heavy rain and wind so far, a little thunder but nothing bad. There have been tornado watches for the area pretty much all day. Coming from the Midwest, we are pretty accustomed to big storms blowing through with lots of thunder and lightning. Tornados are not uncommon in central Illinois.

Mike, how are those LED Marker lights holding up? I need to replace mine and real good quality ones at magnum Trailer are ~$12 a pop, but they have the space for the wire on the back. Do you remember the source? Thanks

I've been buying all of my LEDs from LED4RV's. He even built some custom ones for me that blinked when connected to the turn signal circuit. Nice guy to deal with.

Got back home yesterday after two months down in the Deep South. Never seen so much rain in my LIFE! We had fun anyway no doubt. We love the COEs in southern Al but got chased out of four campgrounds because of flooding. Crazy wet down there and getting worse. One good thing about all the rain is that it was a good test for any visible leaks. We were dry.

Hands down winner of the BBQ tour was HANKS #1 CHAMPIONSHIP BBQ just outside Columbus MS. Dear Lord this guy knows what he’s doing. He’s a competition bbq cooker and has one first place for whole hog at Memphis in May, one of the biggest bbq events in the country. I’ve thought about going there for years but it’s just too crowded. His place is humble and
Out of the way but some of the best bbq I’ve ever had.
Dry rubbed and a great vinegar sauce if you please. We got to talk with Hank for quite awhile when there. Nice guy. Cooks over charcoal with green cherry wood.

I think we shall name this trip the Soggy Bottom Tour!


The rig ran like a top the whole time. Only issue was that pin hole leak in a fuel line which I was able to deal with until I order the part. Everything else was good.

Morning from up north! Was the BBQ as good as Uncle Johns BBQ south side of Chicago? Have friends that claim they are the best in the country.

Never had the pleasure of sampling Uncle Johns. Hank’s was pretty amazing. We had ribs, St Louis cut, and got a pound of brisket for the next night. We were there mid afternoon so we were the only customers there. Hank stopped and talked for quite awhile about his methods and his competition team. He travels from April to august competing in the biggest bbq events in the country. They have won first place at Memphis in May three times in the whole hog division. Also several second, third, and forth place in other divisions..that’s a BIG deal in the world of bbq. Real nice guy, they compete under the name of “the Cotton Patch
Cookers”. Neat stuff.
Once again I’ll say, there is no way we would find these joints if we traveled the interstates. We happen upon them as we drive down the state and US highways.

Howdy boys N girls! Spring is just around the corner, right?
Thanks to one of our top AS gurus here on the forums, Peter H, I was able to get my hands on the black vinyl insert trim for the 310. When the weather warms up a wee bit I’ll do the install. I’ve read a few others reports on installing the insert and here are the tips I’ve seen.

Don’t install in hot direct sunlight.
Be careful not to stretch the material as you go
Drill out the rivets on the end caps and work your way around
Slip the bottom “ear” in the channel then squeeze the top ear into place
At least try to work it so there are no butt joints

Are there any more tips I should be aware of from those that have replaced the small trim insert????

Congrats on finding the black belt trim. Hopefully someone will get the black 1/4" in before I do the gray. Let us know if you find a easy way to install the 1/4".
