Just south of Denver at Chatfield State Park. Like many SP out here Chatfield surrounds a reservoir. Very big Air Force presence out here. Today we were treated to watch two BIG AF helicopters doing what looked to be water rescue maneuvers out on the lake. Pretty awesome sight!

Is that what the whirly bird boys call fishing these days; water rescue?[emoji1]
Glad to see you're having a great road trip Mike; give our best to Lynn.
Cheers

I guess those copters were Army not Air Force, found a little story in the news.
Spent the weekend up in the mountains, about 10,000ft elevation. West of Denver off of I70. Some pretty steep and long pulls getting up there but the old Isuzu did well. Coolant temps were good, EGT got up to 1200 but stayed there and didnt climb any higher. Much of the way up was in 3rd gear.
Rented a little 2 room mountain cabin for daughter and grandson, Lynn n I stayed in the rig. Beautiful spot right on Clear Creek that eventually flows right past the Coors plant down in Golden. LOTS O FUN!

It's so beautiful Dave but the crowds are everywhere it seems. I'm sure you saw it happen. I have very fond memories of being out here back in 1980 doing my internship. The mass immigration hadn't started yet. Still gorgeous

I really miss the Colorado I moved to in 1980. Had a lot of good years. Sad what happened to the front range. Don’t miss what we left 3 years ago. Our visits out there will probably be more in the north west.

We’re still camping in Colorado. Been to several campgrounds and are currently just south of denver at Chatfield State Park. Supposed to be a high temp today of 80°, tomorrow morning is forecasted to be 20°!!!!!!! A 60° drop in less than 24 hours...we’ve need here enough times that we came prepared for the crazy weather. As my son said the other day, we have seen all four seasons on this trip!

I always liked that about Colorado. Extreme changes would pop across the mountains. I was camping at Mt of the Holy Cross near Vail for 4th of July several years ago. T-shirt n shorts on the 3rd with a foot of snow on the 4th.

Then the sun comes out and back in the 70s.

I am really missing the sun and low humidity since moving back east.

I think once you're W of the Mississippi, late Sept, not unusual. Years ago(mid-January), went to bed @ 0100 in Amarillo, TX, awakened by sleet at 0430 to see my car with 4" of snow/ice covering it. Got up at 0830 to find sunshine & 75°, evidence of precip but no sign of snow or ice...thought I'd hallucinated, had not!

Got back home yesterday after a little over a month on the road. Lynn has a death in her family so we had to bust it back pretty quickly. We had originally planned to lollygag our way back but plans changed.
The rig ran beautifully the whole trip. No mechanical issues at all. She just runs and runs. That old Isuzu really performs reliably. The only thing that came up during the trip is that it looks like I have a plumbing leak between the shower valve and the outlet elbow for the handheld shower. I've got a brand new nickel plated Moen valve sitting in storage so I'll go ahead and replace the valve when I repair the leak.
We are home for one whole day and will be taking the rig up to the Joliet IL area tomorrow morning to attend the funeral. We are going to stay at a casino campground....never done that before so should be interesting.
Then heading south in mid December to the Gulf and some places in southern Alabama for a few weeks.
Just rolled past the 150000 mile mark on the odometer so the 310 is just about broken in now eh

Please extend our condolences to Lynn for us Mike. We have unfortunately reached that stage in life where we're going from weddings, kids, and now funerals.

Glad to hear the coach brought you both home safely.

Cheers

Sorry to hear your trip was interrupted. We’ve gone through too much of that over the past few years. Condolences!

Let us know next time you get up this way.
