Another empty park along your way, cool.

Not many of those down here this time of year.
I think there are about hundred airstreams at topsail for the canopener right about now.

Get ready to be peeling off some layers as you drive south, its in the 70s lately here.

Hope you have a fun drive this way, and do let me know, oysters or shrimp for the barbi?

Fuel up before you leave Ala, it's about 30 cents less there

Cheers Richard

Realize this will be a suggestion for another trip: Luella's bar-b-que, Asheville, NC, never disappointed.

You may find this helpful as well:

The ones listed which I have had the pleasure of sampling are good to great so this could be a worthwhile list. I'm more than willing to stop & attempt to discern the author's judging abilities. I will cease my quest for great BBQ just before my obit is published.

Most of you don't know this about me but I was born a poor black child in Tupelo Mississippi. And that's where we just landed, just outside Tupelo at Tombigbee State Park.
There are actually other rigs in this campground, something different when traveling for us this time of year. (I know somebody is gonna ask so NO we aren't going to visit the birthplace of Elvis). Saw some great little BBQ shacks on the way in, will try and hit one today or tomorrow.

I forgot to mention something. Before we left I had replaced my tail/brake/backup lights with LEDs. When we got on the highway and I went to set my cruise control (Rostra aftermarket) it wouldn't engage. Did some reading on their website and sure enough, the CC that I have doesn't play well with LEDs. I need to add a resistor or something, I read through it real quick. Anyway, I put incandescent bulbs back in just my brake lights and that solved the problem. Good thing too, did not want to drive to the gulf with no CC.
just something to note for others.

Mike, you need to add a relay into your brake circuit. It's a common problem with LEDs and cruise controls.

I've got sketches of how I did it on the 310 and on my Argosy both using the same Rostra cruise control that you have. I'll try and dig them up and post them tonight or tomorrow. You should be able to make the modification while you're in the campground. All you need is some wire and one of these relays. You should be able to find one at any automotive store.

Other than brake lights it sounds like your trip is going well so far

Brad

The only thing I would caution you on is the wire colors from the relay socket. The numbers I have labeled on the socket, red, yellow, white and black may be different on the socket you buy. Also the numbers 30, 85 and 87A are not correct in the picture so ignore them.

What you want to make sure of is that you use the NC contact from the relay and connect the ground wire to one leg of the coil and the other side of the coil goes to the "cold" side of the brake switch. The "cold" side is the wire that runs back to the brake lights.

If you have any questions give me a shout.

Brad

Thank you Brad, I think Ive got it. It will be easier when I have on in my hand. Ok, this may be a dumb question but what is the "NC" contact from the relay? What you have labeled "cruise control" is the black control/sw box under the hood correct? Yellow and white to ground, black ties in after the brake light switch (between the sw and the light)
Ill wait till I get home to do it.

To start with the relay you'll be using has two contacts inside, one normally open and the other normally closed. In the attached picture you'll see 5 numbers, 85 and 86 connect to the coil, 30 and 87 make the normally open contact and 30 and 87A make up the normally closed contact. The picture is being viewed from the bottom where the wiring is.

So you need to connect 86 to the cold side of your brake switch which might have a white wire at the brake switch. Which should be where you can locate the purple wire from the cruise control module. You will need to disconnect the purple wire from the brake switch and connect it to 87A as mentioned below. If it's a Rostra cruise control it should be a purple wire.

Connect 30 and 85 to chassis ground.

87 is not used.

The cruise control is the module that has the pull cable going to your throttle and all of the wires coming out of it.

Down at the border between FL and AL, a smallish campground in Florala on Jackson Lake. Nice view from our campsite!
