Lynn and I are so happy they made the effort to swing down our way on their trip west.....Two 310s in the driveway is a beautiful sight to behold. Thanks to you and your wonderful family Tony. The laughter and giggles of two teenage girls in the house brought back most wonderful memories for us of when our daughter was still at home.....I miss that, (but not everything else that goes along with raising teenagers [emoji16])
Best of luck with everything on your WESTWARD HO!

I've got an "oil change frequency" question that I'd like to ask. So as you guys know I'm running the Isuzu with an Allison at545 behind it. I've been using Shell Rotella 15-40 diesel motor oil from the start when I got the rig in '13. Years ago when we weren't traveling as much as we do now, I was changing the oil once per year because we weren't putting many miles on the rig....now it's a different story. We may put 7k-10k per year on the rig now days and I'm wondering what a reasonable oil change interval should be according to mileage?
I've been changing it about every 4K recently. But, I've read that many people go twice that + using a good oil on diesels.
Never owned a diesel before this old Isuzu so I'm still learning. Is there a good rule of thumb that's used for oil change intervals considering the type of use we Give them?

IMHO, the size of the oil filter, combined with the 15 or so liters of oil it takes to do an oil change, and lastly, the high quality of modern oils, I'd go 10,000 miles easily before it NEEDS an oil change.

Cheers

The only way to really know is to have your oil tested. It will give you lots of information about what is happening in your engine. One test will not answer all the questions but one test a year will show you trends after a couple of years on how things are going. With new cars the manufacturer has things pretty well covered but with the old Isuzu's and all the changes in oil, the few dollars spent can give you some piece of mind.

Sometimes ya gotta have a little fun. Lynn was ready to get rid of the old nasty cork board to the left of the entry on 310s.
Served no purpose for us. So she scraped the old cork of the plastic wall and I had some fun coming up with something to go there.....Click image for larger version

Looks a little crooked in the pic, it's velcroed in place so I need to straighten a bit

Seems like forever since we have hit the road for a long trip....leaving this coming Friday headed west for several weeks in Colorado. The trip out will be straight there but coming back home this trip we hope to wander a bit.
Might head up through South Dakota, not sure yet. We get back home for a few weeks then headed south to the Gulf of Mexico for a couple months....yeeee hawww, I miss traveling when we are parked at home too long
