We've driven out to Horsetooth several times but never camped there, it really is beautiful, tucked in the foothills there.

Wicked winds on US36 today so we decided to hunker down in MO, Longbranch State Park. Tomorrow should be much better traveling weather. My son says that Fort Collins just got a one two punch blizzard, Hehehehehe, in MID APRIL!
I told him that I was concerned about even getting up and into Horsetooth, he says, "ooooh no worries, all that snow will be gone by the time we get there".
That's Colorado this time of year, pretty crazy.....you better pack a winter coat hats and gloves, along with your shorts sandles and sun glasses!

Hope you made it there all right!

Wife and I were everywhere from Mount Princeton to Colorado springs to Boulder over the weekend

We spotted a classic motorhome off of highway 72 going down from Nederland to Golden where it crosses the railroad tracks, couldn't get a good look though

We just rolled into Brush CO, just east pf Fort Morgan. About 2hrs east of Fort Collins. Found a couple more really neat little city campgrounds along the way. We love staying at these places.

Yup. Just taking it slow and lollygagging all the way out. Tomorrow we will settle in for a couple weeks at Horsetooth Reservoir just west of FOCO. Rig is running great, no hiccups so far......probably shouldn't have said that

Looks like the water level is down a bit in the lake? We are expecting good run off this year and all the lower lakes should do well. Horsetooth is a beautiful area....I hope you tow (and Wrigley) have a great time!

Welllllllllllll, we got checked in here at Horsetooth yesterday afternoon, set up camp, made dinner and chilled out till bed time. Everything all good when we hit the sack. About two hours later, I woke to the most excruciating pain in my right flank I couldn't believe it. Ive had my share of physical pain in my life and then some but this was no joke. I had no idea what was going on which made it worse....but it wasn't my spine, it was off to the side.
Long story short, ended up at the hospital this morning and it took the doc about 2 minutes to diagnose that I had apparently passed a kidney stone. I tell you what fellas, if it's happened to you, you have my sympathy. If you've never had it happen, be very grateful. DANG THAT HURT!
And having no idea what was going on made me all anxious and stressed which worsened the whole situation.
We had rented a car on our way to the campground so thank god I didn't have to drive the rig to the hospital.

Thank god for my lovely wife, total TCB. So, had our first experience on the road where one of us needed medical care. Hopefully it will be our last.

Michelle refuses to drive our rig, I have gotten her to drive it, so she can, but she does not like to, we have only taken a car on one trip which did not work out well, but this sort of thing is always on my mind. I am happy that everything is ok with you, but this should be a wake up call to all of us. Michelle will be doing more practicing or I will be dragging along some sort of vehicle.

Ouch.
Yup, been there done that, several times.
The rumor is a kidney stone is as painful as childbirth.... but I donít believe it. The ladies are willing to have another child, and me, personally, would NEVER want another kidney stone.
My tip, drink lots of beer! Seriously, the Dr(admittedly, a NHS Doctor...), told me Beer was good as itís a diuretic, and helps flush the kidneys. So, Iíve been following that suggestion with gusto.

Yup, all is good. Took about 48 hrs to really feel like doing much.

Curt you are exactly right about the wake up call for us to get Lynn behind the wheel of the 310. We had a rental car with us but that's the exception not the rule. Sooooo, either on the way home, on some deserted areas of U36 in Kansas, Or once we are back, Lynn is gonna have to put her big girl pants on and drive this sucka. I love driving it, great view from up there in the pilots seat. It's intimidating at first, not like driving our little Subaru, but she's a good driver so she can handle it no doubt.

Absolutely, I know Lynn and Michelle can do it, maybe we should find a parking lot and set up a road course at the next get together, my rig is beat up enough that I will donate her to the cause and let anyone that wants to play around and build confidence.

See you guys soon.

Curt

I'm very glad my wife voluntarily does 30-50% of the driving

The bigger issue is me relaxing while she does it!

It took a couple thousand miles, but I can now relax enough to take a nap while she drives.... Barely...

I recommend you guys look into taking RV driving lessons for both you and your wife/significant other. I was a instructor for several years and not only was it good for the wife but both can learn from watching each other going through exercises. You can see many things watching from outside that are hard to understand while inside the vehicle. It may be a refresher for you but there are many tips you can pick up from a professional. It's a small investment for the long term benefit.
