Mike, I don't know if you have seen this diagram for the '82+- dash A/C wiring. It sure helped me out when I was trying to figure out my dash A/C.

Thanks Dean, where did you find this? From the schematic it looks like the orange wire I disconnected goes to the blower motor sw for the dash AC. It was the one causing the parasitic drain. Good news is that the rig has sat now for several days with the chassis disconnect turned on and the battery is holding a good charge. Tested it yesterday afternoon and it was at 12.43v.

Question; on a charging system that is operating properly, no parasitic drains and battery at full charge, what would be considered "normal" drop in voltage over what period of time??

Thank you,
Mike

It's out of the Chevy Light Truck repair manual. I only have a hard copy.

I got my service manuals for my 1975 and 1978 from 73-87ChevyTrucks.com (you have to use Goggle to search as the manuals seem to be in a tech area not the main site).... this is the the link for the closest year I can find (http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/tech...ice_Manual.pdf).

Your more than welcome Dean.

On the earlier models Chevy published a 'master' manual every major year change and then a supplement for each year; so for my 1975, I have the '74 manual and the '75 supplement. Not sure if it is the same for later models, but worth keeping in mind.

Mike,

I'm pretty sure I have the 81 Chevy manual sitting on the shelf that I no longer need. If it's what you're looking for you're welcome to it.

Got around to a couple projects over the past few days. I needed to finish the dog house cover first of all. I had installed some temporary cup holders and a plastic waterproof marine head unit case to get us by till I got to the permanent install. When I got my rig there was no entertainment center or glove box AND the PO had carpeted over the bolts to remove the dog house for maintenance. Got the top covered in a combination of an aluminum cover for the front panel and then padded and covered the rest in the couch fabric a couple weeks ago. The past couple days I worked on building head unit case. Wanted an old school looking case like an older Kenwood receiver power amp. Built the box out of plywood and banded the front with walnut to match the fold out table. Then I laminated aluminum over the plywood. Added the head unit, map light with push button latching sw, and found a pretty cool Airstream logo to finish it off;

Then Shepard57 (John ) was
Nice enough to bring down the rear passenger side wheel well trim to replace mine that had been boogered up pretty bad by the previous owner.Click image for larger version

We thought it was a direct replacement but the one John had was about 3" too wide. So I ended up cutting out the 3" from the straight top part of the trim and ended up with a joint. I don't have a metal chop saw so I had to use my jog saw to make the cuts. Unless you were looking for it, I think the joint is pretty unnoticeabe.Click image for larger version

Nice setup! I like the light. I need a light on mine! It's cool to see what everyone does with their dashes.

Yes, proof is in the pudding, great minds think alike
This is what I did in 2001 to my 79 Excella "Entertainment Center". In time, I did add more gauges and switches and lights to the empty space on the right.

Was that the original Peter, painted and a new face plate? I struggled with designing mine, had all kinds of ideas and things I wanted to include in it. Finally I said forget it! Keep it simple and get it done already. So thats how I ended up with that rather simple design and configuration.

Yes Mike, it was the original plastic Entertainment center with an 8-track player. I painted it silver, cut out the "Airstream Entertainment Center" and replaced the flimsy face plate with a thick alu plate.
You still have lots of room to add lights and switches. Always nice to have an actual voltmeter for the coach batteries.

Mike,

I forgot to mention the manuals I have are 1981. I think your coach is an 82. If you're still interested they're yours.
