Sorry Mike, but what may have happened is that your noses got so full of the stink while washing Wrigley, that you may not be able to smell the diminished smell now on him.
Keep an eye out for reactions from innocent by standers as your day unfolds.

It's been good fun as usual following your trip Mike, thanks for the travel log.

Cheers Richard

Richards right Mike!

I remember as a lad having a job putting creosote on the bottoms of fence posts; after a few hours of doing just that, I went to lunch at a local dinner.

Sitting in the dinning area I watched as the head cook ambled around the kitchen opening microwaves, cabinets and alcoves; all the while sniffing around like a hound on a scent.

It finally dawned on me that it was me that was the culprit and I watched with impending doom as the chef made his way out into the dinning area. His travels came to an abrupt halt about two feet away from me; his eyes fixed on me, with a wringled nose and an accusatory finger he bellowed "IT'S YOU"!

I was very quickly offered a free lunch as long as I ate it outside.

Cheers
Tony

Long Branch State Park, MO.. Last stop before we head home. This is another one of our favorite stops on US36 when we are headed west. US 36 is one of my favorite routes in general, beautiful drive through KANSAS. Rolling hills, gorgeous vistas, very little traffic, and the road is in excellent condition all the way to Denver. It used to be known as the fastest route from Indy to Denver before the interstate system.

Morning stroll by the lake here, awesome sunrise this morning, ungodly hot and humid when we pulled in yesterday. Rooftop ACs are keeping up just fine.....thank you God!!Click image for larger version

Travel safe the rest of the way home you two! Glad that you were able to get the stench off of Wrigley....what an experience. I showed a video of your Airstream going up our street to my Dad last night. His comment was "they don't make them like that any more....I would keep ahold of that rig"

Wellllllllll, meanwhile back at the ranch. Pulled into Champaign about 3:00 this afternoon, fueled up and filled the propane tank headed for the homestead. She's tucked in and ready to go for the next trip. Pretty awesome trip, longest so far. I wasn't ready to come home but we both have some commitments here in the next week. What fun it is traveling in this old rig, I can't say enough, I love it. Ran like a champ, very few minor hiccups. That Diesel just chugs away down the road. Got a list of things to repair and regular maintenance. Then start looking at our next trip.

Boy John, I'm tempted. 800+ miles isn't that bad. We were hoping to spend the holidays with the kids out west and don't know if we could swing both trips. I'd sure like to though. Looks like we better make our minds up cause lots of folks are gonna be there. Say hello to Ann for us. We would love to see you guys.

Most likely we will spend the holidays out there though.

Well it is a long shot, but.....

Cooperstown, then the fall foliage the week later is a good reason for a trip back to the US. The stretch is whether Peanut could be back on the road (not just running but also registered), so there could be at least one shorty!

I haven't chipped in on the actual Get Together thread because we wouldn't want to grab one of the premium spots because we are a long shot - if we make it, it could be in the bleachers or even in a cabin!

Depending on what level of comfort and dependability you expect, Peanut should be available by then.

As of today too actually drive Peanut legally (excluding paperwork) I need to take care of the tail light wiring, headlight wiring (i.e. all exterior lighting), and bolt the cockpit seats in place. A local shake down cruise would be very beneficial due to the magnitude of work that has been done in the past year or so.

Now if you also want comfort that's a somewhat different story! At a minimum my guess is you would really need the coach DC systems working, the roof top AC replaced, dash AC wrapped up, and if possible all of the coach systems working. Oh yeah, installing the generator would probably be nice as well.

How it looks inside and out are yet another story

Brad

Sometimes it's good to have a goal, might not be able to reach the goal but it can't hurt to try

My backup camera stopped working properly during our trip west. The camera looks like its the same vintage as the coach but I've no idea if these were factory installed as an option or an aftermarket add by a previous owner. I'll get some pics later today. Its hard wired over the roof and enters somewhereup front. The screen still lights up but there's no image. Do any of you know if Airstream offered the camera as an option? If so does anyone know anything about these old devices. I don't have a clue. It stopped working suddenly, no problems with it up till then. Wondering if there is a separate fuse or something for the camera and the monitor. If its not one thing simple I'm going to explore a new system. Ill post some pics today. Have any of you guys worked on the OEM unit? If it is OEM

Mike,

I have the camera and monitor from the 86 345, I have no idea of they are any good but you're welcome to them if they think they might help. I can get pictures this evening and post them tonight.

Keep the original housing for originality and install a new Alpine camera, that is what I did on the 325LE and the 370LE, Regards, BobClick image for larger version
