So, what are safe products to use on the clear coat? Ive used Goof Off to clean up some urethane calk, heavy bug residue...cant think of anything else where Ive used it. What should I use for those applications? My clear coat is in really good shape, Id like to keep it that way as long as possible.

Dog gone it, I really thought that I had read of folks using Goof Off with good results. Oh well.

Mike, I may have spoken to quickly, not real knowing which Goof Off product you actually used. I did a quick search and saw that now they have Goof Off Grease and tar remover. I was referring to the professional goof off people use to remove dried paint and stuff.
The most potent I ever use on clear coat is Paint thinner or Turpentine. Never anything as strong as Lacquer thinner

Hoping myself that it will work out somehow with Moho get together. Really would enjoy meeting all of you nuts. Forget the beer, just bring me a little goof off, that will do the trick (see I know why you purchased it in the first place )

This has become our quick getaway spot. Great little campground with large, very private sites and thick vegetation. Rarely can you even see the neighboring rig. Great trails, a small pond near the campground. We can leave just after 5:00, when Lynn gets off work, and if we're lucky still have daylight to get set up. Lows in the 40s the next couple nights so it wil be great for a fire!

Love the way our Classics look at night with lights glowing inside. As the list of "must do" items on the rig gets smaller, it gives us a chance to really enjoy staying in the 310 and using it as intended. It is such a comfy rig..I found myself saying "man I love this rig" time after time this weekend.

MY FURNACE ISNT WORKING!!!! (just kidding, that time of year on the forums though)

The OEM fold out step was 11.5" from step to stair well, thats one heck of a step up. Walking "down" has become a bigger problem than stepping up, Lynn has almost bit it a couple of times while exiting with her hands full. No bueno to say the least. Ive contemplated installing the electric double step but not ready to make that commitment yet. Sooooo, being a carpenter, I think in wood, not metal like so many of you guys that I envy your metal skills. I added an 1.5" x 8" to the top of the fold out step tread and its made a really big difference in comfort.

I used treated lumber and kerfed out 3/4" of wood on the back side, leaving a perimeter for fastening. I wanted to reduce the weight of the wood and the wear and tear on the mechanism. Id say it reduced the weight by 1/3 or so. I laminated sheet aluminum to the top side which gave the adhesive "no slip tread" a good surface to stick to. Then trimmed it in 1/2" x 3/4" aluminum angle. Turned out pretty good, doesnt look too bad. Very little of the wood is exposed. Boy, that inch and a half makes a world of difference in entering and exiting the rig. Plus, mamma happy!!!!!!

We always use a supplemental step on the ground so no worries about increasing the height of the fold out step.



Had to notch the back corners to clear some hardware.

No doubt Lance. Plus my daughter, 7 months preggers, and her hubby are visiting for a few days here starting tonight. They want to stay out in the rig, she just loves it. Thought I better get that done before they get here, was going to do something anyway but their visit gave me a kick in the rear to proceed. Heck, Im not sure if she can even SEE her feet at this point! Once the treated wood drys out completely Ill paint whats still exposed. There is a one inch strip along the front of the tread that is exposed, not much.

John installed a set on his 325. If I remember correctly the biggest trouble he had, was to change the door switch, as the steps will close when the door is open and extend when the door is closed when motor is running. When the motor is off, steps will stay retracted, so you have to change the OEM switch from open to close, or the other way around.

I have too thought of mucking with my step as the first step is a doozy and is so bloody short in thread depth that Gabby has taken a couple of falls. We also have steps that I built to help out below. Too many other things higher up on the list.
