Reworked the step well and battery hatch. Got rid of the black plastic liner in the step well. The floor of the well will be the new flooring, sides are walnut. All the raw edges will be covered with aluminum outside corner.
Also resized the hatch door a bit so the sides match the the lines of the stair well. It originally as a bit wider and off set, now the lines will match up.

Thanks, we're getting there. Almost finished the flooring in the living area, kitchen and hall today. If you end up getting this flooring Vycan, count on a second person for the install. It makes a world of difference having someone to stand on the adjacent boards when youre tapping one to tighten up the joints. Ill have a good deal of trim and caulking to do after the floor is in. But I like working with this stuff so far.

Boy, I sure hope you get your motor work done and youre happy with it. Get you back on the road. Hope you and the family found some fun stuff to do while you wait.

Thanks Martin. Its getting there. The pictures are giving a reddish hue to the flooring, its more brownish.

Good thing Im not getting paid by the hour for this, I would have been fired a week ago!
Ill start on the hatch tomorrow, waiting for a couple recessed pulls I ordered.

Its just so weird working on something where you throw plumb, level, and square out the window. Different experience for sure.

I'm watching keenly as Peanut needs new flooring.....not planning on changing the layout but the flooring and upholstery is shot and I like the teak and holly look.

Mike, it's called "fair line" carpentry; used with shipping. If it looks good, then it is good. The only tool I used in the layout was a laser to mark out centreline down the whole coach.

I made the mistake of putting up both rear valences by cutting a board the distance from the couches I wanted the valence's to be. I placed the board across the couch platform and installed the valences; so they are exactly the same distance from the couch front to back. However if you were to sit on the couch and look at the valence, you'd swear I had installed them unevenly. It's a conversation starter...

Looking fantastic Mike, and yes, the old axiom applies; "take how long you think the job is going to take, and how much it's going to cost; then double it".

When I was getting a quote from the company, they at first didnt realize that I was going to do the install. They quoted me something like $28 per sq foot installed. AHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. nope!

That new wood flooring really does look great Mike! But couldn't you use that gold colored trim to tie in with the facuits, shower etc. �� Bawahaha

Are you going full length of the coach with that beautiful wood?

Funky tho it may be, I really like the warmth of the carpet in the bedroom.

Are you doing any insulation under the wood?

Do the wheel wells intrude in the head floor in the 310?
Would require some interesting trim in a 345.

Will be following along as you continue the project.

Thank you fellas. Richard Im going from the step-up to the cab area all the way back. Ill shoot some pics when I get there. Ive got maybe 4 or 5 boards left to install so Im close. Hope to finish the flooring this weekend and then figure out how in the heck Im going to trim it out. Some runs will just be a caulk joint to the wall and some areas will look better with some sort of trim. Dont know yet what type of trim Ill use, I may end up making some up out of some walnut because it matches the teak so well. (Dont kill me Tony)

This flooring has a thin layer of foam/insulation/pad adhered to the back, Im not adding any additional. Im not sure how much you would gain unless you insulated between the framing members with a rigid insulation. Even then Im not sure if its worth the effort.

My wheel wells are covered with the rear queen bed.

This flooring is pretty easy to work with once you figure out a few techniques. If anyone else here ends up using it I would like to share a few odds and ends Ive found to be helpful. It cuts real nice and leaves a good clean edge. Easy to make tight corners and curves using a jig saw with a scroll blade. Rips fine on a table saw. Im using a Delta Sidekick for butt cuts. (the Sidekick is like a portable radial arm saw for job sites)

Hopefully Ill have pictures of the entire floor minus edge trim early next week.

Thank you Peter. I shoot for "pleasing to the eye", thats about as close as I can get....sometimes! or possibly the 30-30 standard, looks perfect at 30mph at 30 ft away.
