It seems like you've started your flooring project Mike....I can hardly wait till I pull the hardwood floor up on the 370 to see why I have the trampoline effect outside the shower in the hallway.....I don't care if I have to gut the interior...whatever it takes to make it correct it will happen. The 370 has a Kool-O-Matic fan ! I spent the afternoon doing Kool-O-Matic research.......Oh help me....I think I need help. Regards, Bob

I still have the kool-o-matic in ours. Uses a bit of electric but pulls lots more air than the maxxair in the bedroom. I like the two speed thermostat as well!

This is the one I used as it was a cheap laminate and I was in a bit of a hurry. There is a foil paper material similar to this that I used in my roof when I built the house 20+ yrs ago and it really works well.

When I was installing it, you could feel an immediate difference where it was installed, even before insulation.

As for floor heating, I've used it in my master bath at home for years and if your budget allows I highly recommend it! I used SunTouch warm wire as its a very irregular shape, and plan to install it in the Moho when the boss finally allows the gutting and redo. SunTouch also has mats that would be easy to install right down the center and be highly effective. Hope this helps!

Well Tony, Lynn got my script refilled and Im back on the meds so the voices have calmed down.....a bit. In the middle of patching some subfloor, the biggest patch right down the center in the kitchen area extending in front of the couch. The highest traffic area of the coach. Bone dry just sagging and weak between the framing members, see previous post.

Thinking ahead a bit, my '82 has the battery hatch right inside the door step. Ive been contemplating the finished edging on the hatch door and the end cuts of the teak n holly where they meet the hatch door. I believe Im going to end up using some type of aluminum or chrome trim cap to cover the end cuts around the perimeter of the hatch hole.
So it will be an "L" piece with maybe a 1/2" leg and a 3/4" leg +-. Do any of you have a good resource for ordering this type of trim piece? Ill want something pretty thin.

Thanks for any info on companies that supply this sort of metal trim..

Correct...real tongue and groove teak and holly installed with marine epoxy. Won't ever come out!

If you go to the carpet department at Home Depot, you will find a rack with aluminum and gold colored trim pieces in various length and shapes. I have used them for years in my Airstreams and real like them. They do make 90 degree ones with 1 side pre drilled and groves for slip prevention.
BTW, not to ruin your new med effectiveness , but plywood layers are cross grained to give them equal strength in either direction. A seam in the middle would cause a lot of other issues, imho.

Thanks Peter, I wasnt using the right words in my search. I should have googled "aluminum angle" and I was searching outside corner. Ill check it out.

As far as plywood is concerned I guess I beg to differ. Yes, they are cross grained but the strength of plywood is along the 8' run with the top and bottom grain, the strength axis. Any google search will give you those results. Having been a carpenter for 20+ yrs Ive seen it up close and personal. Have you ever seen a roof or sufloor decked any other way?

The only time it gets a little fuzzy is when you have a double layer subfloor. Then there are different schools of thought. But there is a huge difference in the strength depending on which way you run plywood. Take a scrap piece of 1/2" and test it, lay it with the ends on a couple cinder blocks and step on it. The thinner the plywood the more pronounced it is.

Mike, pass the pills, I stand corrected. I always thought that it was pure economics to run plywood that way, to have less waste. But I am not a pro carpenter.
Concerning the Airstream Flooring, I still think its better in the long run to not have a seam down the middle, especially on trailers, since the flooring is such an important part of the structural integrity of the hull.

Ive installed lots of 3/4" hardwood floors but this is my first time working with a click lock system. Im kinda learning as I go here. Im beginning to think this may be a two person job. One to install each piece and the other to help stabilize whats already down so the joints dont open up. ( stand on it) I dont think Ive ruined any material so far.

Like Tony had said earlier, the layout starts at the bathroom door or wall. I cut that piece into the doorway first and used its outside edge to start the layout line. I believe thats about the only way to lay this floor out.

I screwed some plywood cleats to the subfloor to help keep the runs from moving around when I tap the boards to tighten the joints.
