Look for glues designed for plastics. JB weld has one that will work well with polyethylene.

Heat and force got it off, but the original fitting was 3"OD, and the valterra is 3" ID, and there's no room under there for adapters
I'm not seeing any 3" OD valterra hub/flanges online, but if anyone knows of one I'd love to hear about it. If not I can try to find the thetford part or get creative.

On my 280 the set up is the same. The 3" ABS pipe slides into the tank socket with some non hardening caulking and held by a hose clamp. After loosening the clamp, some wiggling and pulling on the pipe and it came right out. I used butyl rubber when I reinstalled.
To me this set up has merit because on my 280 the dump fittings are at the rear just forward of the bumper. I have clipped them several times on steep driveways especially from a high crown street. I have knocked the traveling cover off a couple of times and broke it once. This also knocks the pipe/valve set up around enough to cause leaks at the tank joint. Fortunately I was able to loosen the hose clamps, reposition the pipes and tighten the clamps to stop the leak. If everything had been hard glued something would have broken. I don't know which would go first, tank or pipe, but neither would have been fun.
PS. The suppliers here have the Valterra side flange with either a hub or spigot.

From what I've read any polyethylene glue just tries to grab and grip the roughed up surface, rather than chemically mixing. From a chemistry standpoint it seems to be pretty much invincible, which is pretty cool.

Yep, mine was the same as your 280, vulkem and a hose clamp, I had to spend 15 minutes with a heat gun, but I was able to wiggle it out
I had gotten confused with the fittings, etrailer had them both listed as 3.5" ID, which I assume is incorrect.
Amazon had the dimensions listed, looks like i have female hubs and need male spigots, ordered some.
Looks like the hubs have 3.5"ID, 3.9"OD, and the spigots have 3"ID 3.5" OD

All the parts are on the way to do the dump valves
For those who come after (or my future reference) this would have been the easy thing to order instead of doing it piecepart

Might as well modify in then! Time to learn how to weld polyethylene. Turns out there's not a lot to it, just a heat gun, some aluminum foil to direct the air, and more patience than sense. Oh, and a fixture and lots of clamps.
12 hours outside in the cold with a heat gun, respirator, and head lamp (questioning my sanity) and it's pretty much there. I cut out the vertical section, welded some 1/4" thick 1" wide ldpe to the bottom to try to add structure, then welded the top to the bottom around the edge, now I'm wrapping 1/8" thick 1" wide all the way around that perimeter seam to beef it up.
The last thing to do tomorrow is replace the dump valve.
I have the new valterra valves and pipe fittings, but the old (broken) thetford fitting is glued on with not a lot of pipe to spare. (And airstream put a hose clamp on. No friggin clue why)
Need to figure out what the pipe coming out of the tank is made of.
Puzzling over options.
Top of the list at the moment is to chisel/grind off the old fitting and try to glue on the new one, after determining the correct glue.
Also up there, repair the thetford fitting with abs welding and shell out $80 for the bolt on thetford replacement valve (not ideal, feels like a bandaid and a waste of money, but maybe the easiest/simplest)
Another is to cut the pipe and join on a new section.
Another is to remove the pipe and weld in a new one (screams bad idea)
Pictures to follow, probably tomorrow
Lance, I know I'm replying to a year old post, but care to shed any light on how you joined old plumbing to new?

It’s been so long I can’t remember. Perhaps a trip up to the barn tomorrow will refresh my memory. No promises.

Mostly done, lot of hours of finishing work to do, but overall I'm pleased thus far. I need to spend a Saturday at the sheet metal brake to make a back wall out of the same sheet metal as the fireplace heat shield, and trim the rest when I redo the floor.
Hopefully I can find some matching plastic to make a cover for the new plumbing, might be reaching out to natures head
I started a thread for this install in the plumbing section

While I'm doing plumbing on the bathroom, anybody know a drop in replacement for the bathroom sink?
I looked at my local menards and didn't see one that seemed to match exactly.

This weekend, after many months of staring at the gaping hole in my heart bedroom where it should be, I finally got the washer dryer installed and functional!
