Have mixed feelings on the torque for these U-bolts. Here in the GM manual it calls for 200 ft lbs. Other places have them over 300 ft lbs!?

So I used the GM spec and had no problem with torqueing with my 250 ft lbs wrench!

Have been many thousands of miles and they haven't fallen of yet!
Here is a PDF of the page from the manual you can ponder over.

Good to know, thanks!

I hadn't checked the manual yet, online I had found the 300lb number.

A 200lb torque wrench will be much easier to come by than a 300lb!

I've got one on the shelf that will do 600 lbs. Would that do it?

I'd imagine it will, but unless you're selling or taking a road trip, I don't think it'll do me much good down there in Kentucky

Wrapping up painting, very happy with it so far, we'll see how it holds up
3 layers of paint, 3 layers of matte enamel clearcoat

Starting on the floor as well if you couldn't tell by the pile of scrap

Also been playing with the new internet setup

Getting 40 mbps with AT&T and about 20-30 with Verizon, out in my backwater neck of the woods that's pretty good. Able to hotswap between the two without hardly a hiccup, did so this morning when verizon was acting up.

Still need to get the load sharing server setup, but so far I'm happy

Cool Rob!
Think they could have gotten a few more antennas on that unit? [emoji16]

There is also a GPS antenna, not connected in that picture
Yea, they quite obviously didn't expect anyone to actually use the included antennas, I've got it run on a harness now to a roof mount 7-in-1 antenna

Omni directional all in one antenna

Need to get it mounted on the roof, shouldn't be a big job

Rob, Is that set-up 4 and 5G compatible?

Compatible with all the 4g frequency bands that currently exist, not with 5g. 5g is still in its infancy. The "good" 5g is millimeter wave and has almost no range, it can basically be blocked by a piece pf paper, used only in downtown urban areas and sports stadiums

The rest of the "long range 5g" currently being rolled out is mostly just for the sake of slapping the 5g name on it, and is using 4g broadcast equipment and sharing the load with 4g traffic, so currently no benefit to 5g for RVing. I'm thinking 4g will be the way to go for at least a few more years.

If you wanted to think longer term the best option currently is the pepwave balance 20x
http://download.peplink.com/resource..._datasheet.pdf

It is very similar but instead of 2 4g modems it has one 4g modem and an interchangeable slot, which you could put a second 4g modem in now and put a 5g modem in later when it's established

The downside is it's not ruggedized for RV environments, and quite a bit bigger

Driveshaft in, balanced and painted with new Spicer joints

A tip for others doing this job... Careful not to let it fall on your head

Good info, thanks. AT&T is anxious to get me to 5g and buy a new Phone...

So the new saddles had exactly the same profile as a spring, sharp 90 degree corner...

These were pretty much the only saddles I could find with a 2.5" width, supposed to be for similar gm vehicles

A couple boring hours playing flap-disc Michaelangelo, and I ground in a profile I'm happy with, they sit nice and flat now. Spacing compared with the old "saddle" is the same

Leak reappeared on the leveler jack, definitely coming from the actuation cylinder so that's good news

I'll call hwh on Monday and get a couple on order

Ordered the actuator cylinder from HWH. Not in stock anymore, unfortunately, so we will see how long the wait is.

Well my plans for a road test last sunday were foiled by an unexpected snowstorm/freezing rain all day. Should be great weather Friday Saturday and Sunday, looking forward to it.

Instead I plowed ahead on the floor, got all the holes patched up and underlayment down, 1-1/2" 3/8 stainless bolts and T nuts worked well for 2 layers of 5/8 plywood.
