It was great before, the only notable handling difference is less side to side rocking, even driving with half full tanks. It tracks nice and straight on the interstate. No more bottoming out with every little bump as well
The 175 miles back went without incident!

We decided to keep the camping going after last weekend and are staying at our favorite nearby state part for the week. It's really nice and quiet and the lilacs are still in full bloom. They're totally booked up for the weekend, but we might come back after memorial day and stay a few more weeks.
I think the water gauge is a lost cause. Tomorrow I'm ordering a full set of new gauges.

So, Gear Vendors guys, idiot question here
Fist pic is pretty clearly the oil drain
Is the second pic the fill?? Alternatively, there are a couple bolts on top holding a small plate on, I suppose that could be a fill hole
I consulted the manual, which had nothing to say about the matter, I guess they assume you're smart enough to figure it out

I think you're onto something, but can't say for sure, as my US Gear reduction drive uses engine oil, pumped from the engine for lubrication.
I'd say, remove top bolt and see where oil level is BEFORE taking out bottom bolt; just in case bottom bolt comes out and top one doesn't....wouldn't be the first time someone drained something and found out they couldn't fill it.
Cheers

yep, that was it!
The manual says "fluid level not to exceed 1" below the fill hole"
I initially took that to mean it should be as close to one inch below the hole as possible and not any higher, though re-reading it it probably means it must be less than 1" from the hole.... coulda used better wording...
plenty of clutch particulate in there, following the service manual recommendation to pull the sump and clean the filters, it's probably been more than the recommended 15,000 miles

The 6 bolts on the bottom hold the sump on.
The low pressure filter sits on the bottom of the sump, I'm not really sure it does anything except maybe filter out sticks and leaves and bugs, it was perfectly clean
The high pressure filter requires removing a plug with either a special spanner wrench or a punch and hammer. They also neglect to mention you have to pull the oil pickup off, otherwise that plug will interfere *just* enough to want to cut threads into in it...
The high pressure filter was absolutely coated in magnetic gunk and clutch material. Took me half an hour just to clean it, very glad I did that.
Filled with GM 12346190 synthetic oil until it came out the hole, took just over a quart

Some oddities: - My unit had no paper washer, not that I noticed anyway
- MY unit had no O ring between the suction filter and pickup tube.
The suction filter sits on the bottom of the sump with a small recess below it, it and the pick up are just (supposed to be) a friction fit.
- This author says one quart, and check that the level is one inch below the fill hole. The manual he links to and my manual both say 38oz, just over a quart, which is what I used and that filled it to the bottom of the hole.
- There is also no way that I can easily see to check the level, as inside the fill hole is not an empty cavity, no way to fit anything but a special tool in there.

Hello,
I am a proud new owner of a 1983 Airstream 310 turbo diesel motorcoach. I found this site and wow I am impressed with all the information that is available. I would really like to connect with other owners who have the same or similiar Motorcoach as I do. I will be happy to share ideas and knowledge of these rare coaches. I need to replace the shower fan and I wanted to reach out to see if anyone has any advise as to where I can get a replacement for it . It is very small only about 4 inches in size. Thank You for you help. happy to be part of this Airstream Community. My Name is Neil

Howdy Neil, welcome to the AS hobby! You have a very coveted and rare drive train! This forum probably contains the knowledge you seek. So far as replacement parts, start at Vintage Trailer Supply. I have relied on the forums here on a pretty in-depth motorhome rebuild. Read the following stickey thread: Forum, knowledgebase, motorhome, classic motorhome, stickey. Otherwise use the search feature and likely find what you are looking for. I’ve been told the best maintenance plan was to rub her down with $100 bills from time to time[emoji6]. Again, welcome...enjoy!

Here is one supplier but there are several:
https://www.etrailer.com/RV-Vents-an.../VP-543SP.html
I replaced just the motor in mine but I think most folks replace the whole unit. (I had an extra motor on hand)

Ahoy Mike, do you have details on the motor that fits in these fans?
Make, model, source?
I did find mention of replacement motors here, but they were not lasting very long in use.
Cheers Richard

Now back to Magnet's projects.

$30 each on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Ventline-BVD0...omotive&sr=1-2
As you mentioned, the entire assembly is this one

If anyone knows of a longer-lasting brushless replacement unit I'm all ears. I've considered using a drone propeller motor, those'll move some air!

Hi, welcome to airforms!
I'm glad you found my thread and liked it enough to post in it
To help keep things straight, I recommend starting your own thread here → http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311/
(and post some pictures of your rig while you're at it, we all like to see )
You'll find plenty on here with the turbo-diesel drivetrain, they seem to get more love than the gassers like my 310.
You'll find the links you need for the shower fan in the previous post

Rob, on my '82 310, the OEM fan motors for the roof vents, bath, and shower are all the same and a bit different than the one you've linked to. Who knows, they may have changed between 82 and 83. But the main difference that I see between the two is how they mount. I actually used one OEM motor from the bedroom to replace the one in the bathroom. On my '82, the motors all mount with two threaded studs on the motor itself.
Since '82 was the first year of production for the 310, maybe they used up stock or something....who knows. But the one I linked to is definitely the same. Inland RV sells them also but I have head mixed reviews on them lately.
Anyway, for the cost, it may be better just to buy the whole unit. Since I was replacing my fans in the bedroom and living space with Maxfans I had two good working motors on hand when my bathroom motor went south on me. That's when I used one of them to replace the bath motor.
