Lost Trans Dipstick > Plz Help With Measurement

My failing eyesight got me again: While not wearing my glasses, I thought that i was re-inserting the trans dipstick into the tube > but no > i shoved the damn thing up against the engine block and drove away. (insert scream here) Efforts to find a junkyard replacement have not gone well. I probably need to order a custom replacement. Could one of you fine Airstreamers with a classic 454 / TH400 powertrain please measure your tranny dipstick length and fill depth hashmarks for me..? to say that i'd appreciate it is a massive understatement. Thank you for considering it. - Frank

Have you tried an auto parts store? That 454 is a pretty common motor, so I figured there'd be replacements available. When I did a search, lots of stuff came up. If you don't want to go the internet route, I'm betting any local parts place could help get you taken care of. Looks like they start around $30.
