Hydraulic levelling issue

Hi all , I am new here and based in the UK . I have a 1990 350 LE classsic Motorhomes . I have a leak from the hydraulic levelling system. It’s the small piston that pushes the leg into its down position. The leak is coming from the area of the bolt on the end . Upon removal the casing is cracked Does anyone know where I can get this replacement part even if it’s a used one of do you think it could be repaired ? I am really struggling . Also does someone know where the fluid top up is located ? The hydraulic pipes all go back to a behind a box which is on the arch behind the passenger front wheel . But it seems to me that you have to take the front wheel off to get to it and remove the casing . Surely the top up isn’t hidden in there ? The fluid leaking out is red like transmission or power steering fluid . There is a big cylinder tank infront of the radiator but I had always assumed this was power steering fluid . Could it also supply the levelling system aswell ? Any help appreciated

Can you give us some info on the brand of your system? I have manuals for some of the older systems but I don't think the jacks have changed much. Pictures also help. The pump and reservoir can be mounted in different places. My 345 is in the left front wheel well and fun to add oil but I have done it without removing the wheel.

Hi , thanks so much for replying . I think I have found the actuator I need . I am not sure but think all my levelling is hwh . I think the heh part I need is rap4079 . However they quote a lead time of 5 weeks then posting to Uk on top . Any ideas who might stock it ?But still struggling on location of my top up tank and what to put in it . The fluid coming out is red line transmission or steering fluid ? Have attached pics

That part number is for a 9000 lb. jack which is a bit of overkill but my 345 has 6 jacks so who knows.

No, the power steering system is separate from the leveling system
Step 1

Retract all four jacks fully.


Step 2

Locate the hydraulic power unit including the pump and reservoir tank. on the 350, the pump will be located behind the axle of the front drivers wheel and accessible from beneath the vehicle. Its protected by a plastic box screwed down with self tapping screws. The reservoir is a long tank with a chrome breather cap on top containing an integrated dipstick.


Step 3

Wipe off any dirt from around the breather cap. Unscrew the breather cap and remove it from the reservoir, then wipe the dipstick clean and reinsert into the tank. Remove the dipstick again and read the oil level. Proper oil level should appear in the range between the two scribed lines on the dipstick.


Step 4

Add HWH Specialty hydraulic oil or Dexron-style automatic transmission fluid to the reservoir if necessary. Bring the oil level up to approximately 1 inch below the top of the reservoir.


Re-install the breather cap.

Welcome to the forum.

You may want to reach out to BoomSounds (Nick) who is also in the UK and is fighting his HWH system since a front wheel blow-out on his 250. Could be an opportunity to share info.

As for me, an Argosy level system is basic, if your bed is sloping downhill, sleep the other way around. If this doesn't work move the motorhome!

I am the one to thank you, since your inquiry made me look closer and take the cover off. My tank was 1 1/2 (one and half) quarts low .

Since i do not see any leaks, I suspect that somebody in the past replaced one of levelers that may have been leaking for some time. And you know how the story goes, it was a long day that day and the system worked again, so no reason also pull the tire and the pump/tank cover to check the fluid....if they knew where the tank was located.
