I know I didn't pay very much for mine. I think the total for title transfer and registration was $39? I'd have to look again. I only got a 30 day registration as it needed emmissions to pass for the permanent. It is still in the shop after the 30 days, but it was the old drippy fuel line that screwed it up. It will only cost about $10 to get the permanent one once it is in running condition. I used a shopfront registration place in Glendale to get those papers. No line. Took about 10 minutes.

Seems like it is in good shape considering the age. They took care of it.

Thumbs up $35 for 2 years

Just to bring this thread full circle... I went into AZ MVD to get another 3 day temp registration so I would be legal on the way to inspection. The guy gives me a funny look and says we dropped inspections in November (vehicle thieves applauding all over the state?), do you want to register it now? Well, uh sure, yes! I went for two years and $35. I might have saved a buck or two if I had been prepared and remembered the $54K original blue book price. I guessed $57K and nobody checked. I think the AZ gov budget cuts (possible worker pay cuts) may be contributing to a somewhat lax attitude at MVD. That is just my unsubstantiated opinion though. And I was muy happy with the results. Hope they don't close more MVD offices and definitely not the state parks.

When you think about it, Canada has the right Idea to charge a 'true' initial registration fee, file the data in their computers and leave you alone till rhe data needs to be updated because of a sale, change of address, etc...

Our glorious State Govt's charge us multiple annual fees for our vehicles - BECAUSE THEY CAN! - to collect additional revenue from it's citizens...

DMV's don't need these annual fees for 'registration' - they're actually just 'extortion' fees - Lets face it, once you're registered, why should you have to do it EVERY year? These DMV fees don't go to improve the roads your vehicle uses - those funds come from fuel taxes...it's a Govt. 'money grab', pure and simple, and we've let our elected officials sell us all down the road on this issue, IMHO!

In California, our annual vehicle 'registration' also comes with huge 'fines' if you're late in payment - another BIG bonus for the DMV - It's no added 'cost' for them if you're late - it's just another way to grab some more money from the public!

I guess my disgust for huge, bloated government entities is showing...
