I installed one in January. Installation is pretty straight forward. We've only made a few short trips but so far really like it.

Hello again. Can anyone answer a few questions for me. I have 87 34.5 with 454.
I am pretty sure i have a Turbo 400 trans 3 sp. Does it have a driveline brake? What is the rear end ratio? 456?

It should have a driveline parking brake and 4.56 gears in the differential. The problem is in 30 plus years things may have been changed.

This baby only had 20K on it when I got it and one owner before. Think everything on it is as it came from AS. It sat for ten years as the guy that owned got sick in 97. I got it in 2007.

When I pulled off the drive tires to redo brakes I notice there is a drum brake. That what got me thinking that possibly there was not a driveline brake. Guess I will have to drive 50 miles to where I keep it to check and make sure it has a driveline brake. i want to get me GV overdrive ordered but don't want a problem from the get go. Thanks for the help.

That would be very unusual to have rear drum brakes. I thought only the Argosy and some early 28' Airstreams had rear drums, all the later and longer Airstreams had disc brakes on all axles with the exception of the tag axle.

You can get the Gear Vendor set up with or without the driveline brake so you need to know for sure.

My 280 with an Isuzu has a Gear Vendor with driveline brake and it's great. My 345 has a Cummins with an Allison so an entirely different beast.

Sorry wasn't clear on rear brake. It has a disc but there is a drum brake inside the rotor casting like a rear emergency brake on a car with disc brakes. I am going to drive up tomorrow to look for sure. Nick at GV was pretty sure it has a driveline brake. He said almost anything over 28 to 30 has one. Guess I'll know tomorrow.
