Front plate/tag holder

My state requires a front license plate. Did Airstream fit a front tag bracket as OEM? I don't want to just zip tie a tag to the front grill.

I’ve searched all the pictures on this site and it seems people put their front license plate on the front bumper in the middle or either end of the bumper. Some people have it up on the grill too.
What location is proper?

Mine is on the bumper in the middle but I don't think that is any more proper than where ever it would make you happy. I do think it would look tacky on the grill, better on the bumper.

The previous owner of my classic motorhome owned a machine shop so his tactic was to drill and tap two 1/4-20 holes in the bottom bar of the grill frame to mount a tag. Not that you need to own a machine shop to do this, all you need is a drill, a drill bit, a tap and maybe a tap handle (or just a wrench if you're very careful) to do it and then your license plate won't be flopping around as you drive or as the wind blows like it would if you wire tied it on...

Correction, the holes are tapped in the top bar of the lower grill surround. It never pays for me to say anything without looking at a picture first. My memory always fails me when it comes to these things... I'm not even forty yet either... I don't think it looks tacky at all but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Michigan does not require a front plate, so I don't have one. Will I get a ticket if driving through a state that does?

BTW, I think the plates on the grills and bumpers look fine. I do draw the line at wire and zip ties, though.

Thanks for all the pictures. I was hoping that Airstream had a designated place from the factory. I plan to keep this one as original as I can. I will post a pic when I decide where I place the tag. I'm leaning towards Mr Leary and Mr MeanlowGreen's example.

Mine looks factory, drilling holes in that beautiful (expensive) bumper is treason, imho.

Mine is on the bumper, but I like the tacky...I mean the grill position better. The bumper sure looks cleaner without that plate on it. I may just relocate my plate and also move the fog lights from below the bumper to the top as in above pictures.

My driving lights are factory installed Signal Stat pieces, mounted on top of the bumper. Just a thought here but you might be able to take the bumper off and flip it? I have no idea if that will work but if you want to move your lights to the top it might be the easy way to do it... You'll probably have to remove it from the brackets and flip it and bolt it back on but it might just work?
