Love, Love, Love this video. Makes me wish Airstream had produced more than one video of Classic Motorhome construction. Wonder if anyone who visited the Ohio Plant in the 70's through 90's ever had a vid-cam and uploaded their own personal video to YouTube......

When I found out the problems with my subfloor I watched this video and asked the same question about the subfloor. It turns out that the plywood is the very first thing the factory manufactures; it is then wrapped with the C-channel, ribs are added and the aluminum exterior is then applied. The floor is then braced to the ceiling as the whole body is lifted by both ends onto the chassis for wiring, insulation, windows and interior panels.
I love the smoking on the job, as I did find a few butts in dark places.
Cheers
Tony

It's an amazing clip! I saw it first about a year ago, and we watched it all together with the boys. We remembered our visit in the plant back in 2014, the "water-pressure" test room is still there.
But also we were about "weten our pants", as we heard again and again ...."super lightweight construction"! For sure, the shell is an ingenious construction and truely "lightweight". But after the rebuild of "Bangles" i know by heart HOW clumsy and weight abusing our "beauties" are made!!!!
-Heavy thick plywood in several lyers
-far too thick wood for cabinetery
-plywood to "fill" gaps here and there.
Also, the constantly mentioned "best quality...blablabla" is a true joke. If THESE are the best in the RV industry of the early 80ties, i really DO NOT want to see others...!
Richard, i fiund in some "dark corners" not only cigarette butts, but also srews, rivets, sawdust, a screwdiver (!) below the toilet etc.
My goodness, HOW BAD were they build!
Anyhow, i love my Bangles!!!!!
(And the clip is a wonderfull piece of vintage!)
Clip exist similar for trailers!!!! Check "Comonial Airstream"!
Best, Marcus
