I have a 1990 345 with the 454 engine. This used the Chevrolet 1989 P30 chassis. I need the timing and idle speed specifications. In fact if the owners of the different Classic models would provide this I will make up a spec list for all of the gas engines. The info is usually on a sticker on the radiator or on the air filter cover. Airstream has no idea what these are.

Lastly, the trick on timing the 454 in a motorhome is to use cylinder number 5 and the lower timing marks (these were added because you can't see the "normal" upper timing marks in a motorhome.

On my 350 1991, the specs are on a sticker on the air filter housing. If it ever stops raining, I will report them to you.

Mine too but it sounds like Howard is missing his sticker. Pretty sure it's 8 degrees BDC and 750 +/- 50 at idle.

Yes it is missing. When I had the Banks installed many years ago they tossed out the old filter and replaced it with a K & N. So good by specs. I have been told both 4 degrees and 8 degrees. Chevrolet is no hope since they refer you to the sticker. Airstream says they no nothing about the engine.

The original factory setting, considering emissions, was 4 degrees. The recommended setting, for best gas mileage and engine power, is 8 degrees. The idle should be 650 to 700 rpm. This is for the big block 7 plus liter engine.
