I need the R12 freon capacity for the 1990 through 1995 454 Classic Motor Home. Thanks.

Starting in 1994, R134A was the legally mandated refrigerant. If you want to convert, when you find the specification for the R12, and if you can't find the R134A weight capacity, R134A is 80% of the weight of R12.

I think at that time they were still using the G.M. receiver/dryer with the sight glass. If so, clean it off and charge until the bubbles stop. At this point add five more ounces. You may need a mirror to watch the flow under the sight glass.The pressure reading on your low side will be around 40 p.s.i. Good Luck.

I want to convert to Redtek but the original R12 charge is not marked anywhere. I don't know why Chevrolet or Airstream did not provide the tune-up, freon, fluid levels etc. for these Motor Homes. The specs are different for each year and model and it would be nice to know what is needed for repairs. The Chevrolet Motor Home books provide some of the info but not all.

Sounds all too familiar. My Blimp has a Ford engine, and it's manual gives virtually no useful information. I have had very good success going to NAPA or Pep Boys and asking for engine things for a 1987 (last year of carbs on vans) E-350 Van with the 460 engine. So far every part or capacity has be correct. I even bought an after-market book for that year van, and it's full of useful info. May be an option for a Chevy also?
