Dashboard woes
I’m in a 1984 motorhome doing a diy renovation. Having pretty good luck figuring out fixes for the electrical systems, but this dashboard wiring is a real head-scratcher sometimes. Mostly PO frustration as several half-a$*fixes that have failed
What is this module floating around in my wiring mess? As you can see most of the wires had been cut

It looks like the cruise control module.

Would the cut wires shown have gone to the speedometer?

It's the wiper module. Check my post here:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f311...ual-87396.html
You can still get a replacement module direct from a supplier at a fraction of the cost of the Airstream option.

Not that I know of. These units generally measure rotation of the driveshaft via a magnetic pickup, rather than actual MPH.

I recall that when I replaced my wiper module it was a similar looking plastic box under the dash. Make was ROSTRA Precision controls. Diagram attached. It is of course conceivable that they made and had a similar set up for cruise control. I cannot attest to that.

I would love to get my hands on the cruise control module wiring diagram to compare.
The PO has disconnected both systems. Rigged some toggle switches for wipers and washer, and no cruise control connections at all

I think this is going to be a rabbit hole for me....I have done so many other dash projects that correct previous “fixes”, new gauges, etc.
I will be full timing it in a couple years, planning to do tour of the National Parks. Think it’s worth the cruise control repair? I have heard using CC in rv is generally a waste of gas but I use it regularly in my daily driver

Oh, and pretty sure the brown box is the CC module. I have located the fluid level sensor module, and this is not part of my wiper system

I like cruise control, frankly I'd far rather use it for long hauls.
In terms of the cruise control schematics. I thought they were usually included in the Airstream Coach manual, including the test procedures. If you don't have your coach manual, download it or a similar one from the same year from Airstream.com.

Ooooohhhhh ya, cruise control for me is a must. The fuel pedal on the diesel has a pretty stout return spring.

Hey Kyle-
My CC was out for a couple of months and I hated it. Got to have it for the long drives. The older I get the less cooperative my right leg has become. Did you get the reel installed?

The chassis manual I have does not show the cruise control module I’m looking at. Even more confused than when I started, think my service manual is for newer gen Chevy MH. I need to dig around more under the dash. Got into rewiring windshield wiper/pump and left CC alone for now.

Did the original teleflex speedometer have an electric speed sensor lead to the cruise control module? When we bought this 1984 270, it already had aftermarket Autometer speedo/tach and no speed sensor lead. I have upgraded to Speedhut gps speedo/tach and wondering if I need to use an electric speed sender from transmission to cruise module?

If I’m right, the bottom left connection “speed signal” is no longer part of my speedometer

Hi,
I was referring to the Airstream manual, not the Chevvy Chassis Motorhome Manual. Check Airstream.com if you don't have this.

I would benefit from the Airstream service manual! I went through airstream.com website. No luck...was an electronic version available at one time? I have the airstream owners manual, but not airstream service manual
