Dashboard AC question

OK folks, I've been struggling with a 134 conversion of my Dash AC, and have the following question for anyone who has a working dash AC:
My clutch pulley has 2 belt grooves, should there be 2 belts or just one? Thanks!

I am in the middle of this process.

My '91 350 LE has two groves and one belt.

My 91 300le dash AC is not working, and the compressor is making a nasty sound. Has anyone done a DIY on the conversion?

I have told that you can drop in 134 without doing any changes just dump the 12 and pull vac . The best way is fix problems with old system and find some 12 it works a whole better than 134 . I know you don't believe me so call National Refrig the people who make 134 and ask them .

I like the idea, read an article with similar concepts (5 yrs life with a 12/134 mix). My problem (and I have 2 cans of 12) is that I can't get the system to work at all with 134, so don't want to waste the 12....

Your system is pretty simple in that it pressurizes refrigerant, reduces the pressure and removes heat. In doing this the refrigerant changes from a gas to liquid and back and fans remove heat inside the coach and other fans remove more heat in front of your radiator. Some refrigerants are more efficient than others but that is another very long discussion.

If you take the air hose from your compressor and blow air toward your hand it feels cool. This is the same rapid reduction in pressure in it's simplest form.

You need to get a 134a manifold gauge set (because you have 134a in the system) and check the system to see if you are making pressure on the high side and reducing pressure on the low side. If not then you can troubleshoot the system to find the problem.
