About 3.5 years ago when I put the MH in the storage lot for a couple years, along with not winterizing the plumbing, I left various items like shampoo, bug spray, sun screen, etc sitting under the bathroom sink.

Closed up in the summer I’m sure it gets to 125 degrees inside and these chemicals boiled over and ate up the plastic floor.

So finally I cleaned it up, sanded the plastic a bit and cut and put down a piece of aluminum. Finally got my toilet paper holder back!

I guess the lesson is if this stuff will eat up plastic maybe a good idea not to use it on the human body!

I’m spending the week at the motor home. Was 105 degrees. Down to 95 yesterday and today. Back up to 101 tomorrow, then higher! There are a bunch of fires up here in the North State so every couple of days we wake up to the smell of smoke. My brother came down from Seattle for a few days. Nice little RV he has. Well insulated. His A/C worked well! We hit the shooting range and put the “fun stick” on the Glock 45. Not that there isn’t a list a mile long of “to do’s”, but have only replaced the run capacitor on my A/C and replaced the Anoid rod on the water heater. Sitting here star gazing tonight while enjoying a $52 bottle of wine my brother left with me. Just doing the glamping thing!

Am I missing something

The hottest it's been here in central Kentucky this year that I've seen is 92 degrees. Overnight temps are in the low to mid 60s.

The heat doesn't appear to be a local trend...over 95 for the third day running in my part of the Uk, so we are officially in a 'heatwave'.

I have to say no wine is involved, but I have found one benefit of currently 'working from home', and that is a possibility of jumping in the pool during lunch-break to cool down!

Ranch is under fire evacuation yet again. It's a "small" fire, only 33,000 acres (compared to multiple other fires in the state). It's about 8 miles south of the main compound and about 3 miles from the south "outback" property line. It's expanding more west at this time with northward progress slow. Pics are from better times at the south property line.

Dean, one would have to think that eventually there will be nothing left to burn. Living here in Kentucky it's hard for me to fathom what conditions are like in your part of the country.

Actually some of the fires are not progressing at least on certain sides due to previous burn scars! Even at home, 250 miles south of the ranch, we are surrounded by fires, but at least today we can breath a bit...winds must have shifted last night.

Well it looks like the north side of the fire has stalled due to weather, winds and dozer lines, so onto new projects...


I need to replace the large side blinds on both sides in the salon area. I don't know what to put there. The original blinds have been removed, they were shot. They were awesome, but I know there is nothing available like them. The sides of the blinds had sliding attachments which held them close to the curved wall.



I need some help with ideas!

you mean the clips below?

I have an easy solution for you, well relatively easy if you are handy with wood or know someone.

Copy the system they started to use in the mid 80's to hold the blinds in place. You can use any kind of material, metal, flooring planks, hardwood.
The draw back is that you have to use rigid type of blinds, like I did in the 350 (2nd picture) or add a center slat like they did in the 4th picture.
The third picture shows it in my old 1987 345

The nice thing about this system is total privacy and darkness at night.


Edit: Looked at your picture again and all you would need is a piece wood or a metal rod hiding behind your curtain to hold the new blind back

I once transferred the old clips to a new woven blind, worked well.

Peter - are those fabricated or the original factory Lambrequin Window Close outs which were used on the LE models? I have the factory close outs, but my blinds are pretty knackered and i'd like to upgrade them to blackout blinds which run in some kind of rail system within the close outs. The wooden ones rattle too much when driving down the road. I don't think i have any clips which might be why.. Looking for inspiration if you have any suggestions!

The clips were only used in the early Motorhome years (79-83) and I don't think they are any longer available.

As for Lambrequin Window close outs, I had to look the meaning up and it came back with: Lambrequin definition is - a scarf used to cover a knight's helmet.
Since thats not what we a dealing with, I assume you are talking about the window boxes used since 1985/86 and not only on LE models. They just made them a little fancier on the LE's with the golden mirror inserts.
When i replaced the old wooden blinds, I looked at many options. Looks, cost, functionality, quality, full blackout and noise were the factors.
Looks and cost: so many options and many way overpriced designer junk. Not going to spend $400 a window on some day/night stuff that will not last
Functionality, quality and full blackout: easy up and down, built to last and easy light control
Noise: Most quiet fabric covering were worthless junk. would be ruined by any moisture. Metal blinds were out because of noise, the wooden blinds I ended up using are very quiet for 2 reason, the type of slats used (privacy) and installing 1" foam on the inside of the wooden casing.

They are 2". Be aware of the Privacy selection on the HDepot weblink. Selection 2 Privacy slats require a "cased in" window, since the slats are just resting on the strings and are not attached. You may not want to use that system in your situation.

Thanks for the useful info. In terms of the Lambrequin closeouts, it is a weird term. I always thought it was the Airstream term for the boxes you mention. The options file for my series of coaches has the following info:
