I've got the door back together! It's not perfect but much better looking then before! I put new foam insulation in the door, painted the two panels and painted the inside edge of the window plastic frame.

I hammered flat the edges of the bottom panel. They were curled a bit from removal. Installation went ok. I used soapy water on the lower edges n order to slide the lower panel in. I worked in one side, the bottom, then the other side. I riveted from one side to the other as I made sure all sides were or would slip into the lip on the door.

I also installed a new shade. I got it at Lowes. A lady that knew her stuff helped me. She saw my old shade and chuckled. She said that is an old shade and they don't make them with that quality anymore. She wanted me to know that before she cut a new shade. I had to shorten the shade as well otherwise the roll would be too thick to fit in the plastic window frame. I used the original mounts...I don't think you would find the correctly shaped mounts today!

I put the vinyl molding around the window opening this morning and it had shrunk more then an inch! The bottom panel at the bottom edge had corroded some between the aluminum and the vinyl. I cleaned up the corrosion and I'm going to cover the bottom edge with an aluminum door kick plate that I've had sitting around for a few years!

Yes your door really looks nice now.
And thanks for the details about the shade in the door.
I never knew that was there. Will be continuing to read along for more learning.

Cheers Richard

Don't forget to put the insulation back in

Brad

Yup, I stalled new insulation!

I trimmed and mounted the aluminum kick panel that I had...just hope no one actually tries to kick the bottom of the door!

We are having some awesome weather here. Also had a thunderstorm roll through Monday afternoon/evening. And what would life be like without cooking up some King Salmon from Alaska caught by a friend of mine here?

The kick plate looks awesome! Saved a pic of it to my "ideas if I ever get the time and skill" folder.

The salmon looks great as well. We love fresh salmon.

Thanks! You can do it! I think most of what I've done is doable by most folks...just research it, put your mind to it, take it slow and have fun!

I would agree to a point. The point being you have vision and can see what will look good! Most of us are bottom feeders that wait for a good idea and copy it! Well, maybe not most, but definitely me!!

I did a Google Maps search of the ranch and found my MH in the satellite photo. It's a space on the hill I had over a year ago. I'm the second RV from the left. That's my MH with the spare tire cover laying on the ground at the rear bumper, my 16 foot flat trailer and my 20 foot enclosed trailer!

I checked the house and guess what was parked out front. It's normally in covered storage. Must have been packing for a trip.

The cooler is a Coleman stainless steal model and the emblem is from the spare tire carrier that has been off the MH for many years.

Out of the Past

I was reorganizing the garage this last week and thought it was time to go through some things from my parents. I came across a couple of photo albums I didn't know existed. Here's a little step into the past...
