Interesting. When I rebuilt the doghouse in Peanut it had a cover like yours but the gasket was nothing like in you picture. Makes me wonder if that was some POs handywork to Peanut.

If you have the opportunity how about positing a picture or two from the same vantage points as the ones where the fires burned. I think it would be interesting to see what if any changes have transpired since then.

Jackpot, the tilt switch I ordered is the right size for both the deadbolt and step! Here is the details and QR code to go straight to the eBay store. I think it is the 4th product down on the home page

That gasket should work for me. If not I can use it on a couple of the compartment doors.

Mercury Switches

Received the mercury switches and installed on the step and the dead bolt. All is working well. Dash lights even work. I had forgotten that they blink after being on for 5-10 seconds. Thanks for the ebay link Kvsterling!

Here are a few photos I took last week. Not exactly the same vantage points. One shows the high ridge that the front of the fire came over and down towards the main ranch property. It basically stretches from left to right as far as the eye can see. All still burned and dead.

There are large manzanita shrub and tree graveyards and then you can look over to the other side of a hill that wasn't touched at all by fire. There are burned areas with no regrowth and burned areas where the grasses and flowers are springing up.

I had expected to see much more erosion of the soil on hillsides and trails, but we really didn't get much rain this winter.

It's amazing how nature can recover from so much devastation. It will be interesting to see how long before new trees start to take hold. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Almost forgot, great sign!

I filled up the tanks in the pickup before the world went to donkey dung this week, so headed to the ranch today. May not be up again for a while. Couldn't ask for a better Saturday evening in the MH, drinking my cheap bottle of wine, 72 degrees via the electric heater and streaming NASCAR!

I feel your pain Dean...regular gas is running a $2 a litre is the UK, so pushing $10 for an imperial gallon.

Hmm...Tommy takes exception to your donkey dung comment. He happens to think donkey dung is very aromatic and has many useful purposes. He is after all, an expert on donkey dung

I can't even imagine living with prices that high. I think I paid $4.49 a U.S. gallon on Saturday filling up before I headed up the mountain.

Brad, please extend my sincere apologies to Tommy! No disrespect to his aromatic dung was meant. Its just that I can't use the word "****" on the forums. I believe the word "****" is a perfectly acceptable word, but oh well. However, I still can't get used to seeing erectile dysfunction ads every 10 minutes on TV.

Well there's your problem....watching TV! Other than for football games I don't watch TV anymore. Sick and tired of 10 minutes of commercials with 5 minutes of actual content

Brad, I never realized this, but we have more in common then I thought. We both do not have a 345 and we both have donkeys. I have to find out what our Ranch donkey's name is however.

When I get to the MH each time, I check the level of the MH. The air bags will leak down a bit as well as the hydraulic leveling jacks. The air pressure was holding at 50psi and the air compressor should have come on with key on, but wasn't working.

So I did some troubleshooting checking for power at each critical point; power at the solenoid, power at the key on to the solenoid, power at and after the fuse. The air pressure relay contacts had some green corrosion on them. Cleaned with contact cleaner and small file. All works great again.

Its always something!

Many years ago, we had a thunderstorm over head at the ranch and lightning struck the power lines. That blew out my transfer switch. At that time I had to bypass the transfer switch to get shore power to the MH. I had also wired the GenSet to a receptacle. Some months back, I had to replace the converter and I purchased a new transfer switch at that time. Well, the transfer switch finally came to the top of the ToDo List.

I got the transfer switch installed and shore power is working. The GenSet cable that originally sent to the junction box on the left, was wired to the receptacle on the right. I must have pushed the cable up into the wall a bit at that time. I can't pull it down now to put it back into the junction box on the left. So I'm leaving the box on the right and adding a jumper wire. The piece I had is too short to be proper. I will have to get two feet of new wire and redo next time around.

I started the GenSet, but it only ran for about 1 minute. Not enough fuel in tank...a bit below one quarter. If I have any fuel for the ATVs left before I go home, I will put in MH and see if I can run GetSet and test transfer switch.

Well....I kinda have/had a 345 There are pieces of one in the barn and my Argosy is part 345

I think Tommy is a fair amount bigger than your donkey. He's big enough that for a while after my heart surgery I had to stay away from him. I was worried he would head butt me and I don't think that would have felt all that great
