Classic windshield sourses

hey all,
Is there another sourse for windshields for classics, and a better price. 900.00 for one half, seems pretty steep to me. Thanks. DJ

Sorry I don’t have a answer for you
But since you started this thread
How about a RV bone yard (junk yard)
Although I have my doubts if a windshield would last very long
I thought I saw a thread or reply on the forum about windshield purchase just recently but I can’t seem to find it now, I thought the price was $800 for the glass but I could be wrong...
I also need both sides so again any help on this thread would be Appreciated

Their price has gone way up! If I recall correctly they use to be less that $700 last year!

See the bottom of the “My crazy 310 diesel...” thread for a good link on windshields.

Hi,
I went to bus glass in Oregon. If she was correct, meaning they didn't t have glass for my classic, but did have glass for a 78 argosy. If it s the same glass, 750.00 per side. 350.00 shipping from Elkhart,in to Milwaukee. I'll go pick it up myself.
I'll need a really warm day, to install it. The rubber has to be very soft. I've done this before. Wrap around windows are tricky. My have to call the guys at bus glass for tips. Anybody got tips , that would be most excellent.
Everybody have a blessed Easter. Remember why he did what he did. For us...

Hello,
Well, I talked to geno at bus glass.we verified that the classic and the argosy windshield are the same. Took measurements to verify. You'd think they'd have the classic windshield listed. Weird. 750.00 per side I opted for new locking rubber because mine has shrunk so much. Add another 20 bucks. Totaling 1500.00 for the pair. Freight is pretty steep due to crating, insurance and new regs on glass shipping. 350.00 from Indiana to Milwaukee,wi. I'll take a drive I think. So we have another sourse, a little cheaper than 980.00.
See yall later.

I just got a quote from RV Glass Solutions for a grand total of $2250
I dont know if they have the proper gasket listed in the quote.
It may be one of few choices, they are in Oregon, but it looks like they install anywhere in the country.
Prices sure are up!

Hey gross polluter,
I'm going to Elkhart,in. To get my windshields. I think in a couple of weeks. Are you interested in getting a pair? Maybe they lol give us a deal if we buy together. Heck, if they knocked off 30.00 bucks per side, that would be cool. You interested?

I'm going to check out this tv solutions place. 89.00 for freight might be worth paying.
When I checked with bus glass the rubber gasket was I think 314.00 labor would be about 650.00. That's awfully steep to me.
Geno At the bus glass recommend NOT to replace the gasket if it s in good shape.
The old gasket has conformed to the body of the coach. Especially the corners. And I can tell you from experience, new glass and new rubber is a beast. Both of them got to find there place as it were. A flat glass is pretty easy for that to do.
But a wrap around glass is really tricky. Lots of lub needed. You really got to massage the glass into place. Old rubber doesn't t fight you. It has settled into its place. So anyway 2250 for glass freight and install may be a fair price if you don t feel comfortable trying it. I put a couple of windshields in my 56 Chevy trucks. That is tough. Our windshields aren t near as curved as those 50 s cars . I don t think it would be to tough. I'll let you know. Let it get a little warmer out, and I'll tackle this one. May make a video too. I did my 50 caddy, it took 6 hours to get it in the chrome is on the rubber. That was a relatively flat piece. But new rubber made it really a beast. Lots of lube needed. Regards. DJ

I called the people who gave me the quote above and it does not include a gasket, they claim that they reuse the gasket unless it is ripped.
I would not trust a old gasket.
They dont have any in stock but they gave a price of $488 bringing the grand total to $2740, to rich for my budget!
I will wait until the glass is totally unusable so insurance will cover it.
Did that Chinese space lab hit the ground yet

Cool,
I'll call geno Monday, and see if we can get a little break on the price. Are you in a hurry? For me , it's gotta get warmer, and I got take a day off . They're not open on Saturday, and no one will be there. So, it's a weekday. Let me give them a shout , and then we can see how to make this happen. . I can go anytime, I can put the glass in my house. Gotta give work a little advance on off time. DJ

I can wait a while a suppose...
It would be nice to get them before the classic Airstream motorhome get together In Michigan
I’d have to take the day off also
(I work nights 2nd shift) but I can take off pretty much whenever I want
I might even be willing to pick our stuff up and maybe bring your stuff up north to you NO CHARGE
Only payment I’d want is to see your rig, pick your brain, and listen to your Airstream stories and words of wisdom[emoji847]

Well,
I guess we could get then a sap. I have a real hard time getting time off, because I have a dedicated route. I got to give them weeks of notice, no Monday's or Friday's off. With that being said, if you are willing to go get them, I would pay for your fuel, and your lunch. I could meet you at your place, on say a Saturday and pick up my 2. That would be very excellent, I would be eternally grateful . I forgot, when is the Michigan get together. DJ

Michigan get together is May 17 - 20
If you need to wait that’s ok with me, still not sure I’m willing to take the motorhome on a 400 mile round trip[emoji57]
Motorhome is at my house now, so I’m feverishly working on what I can, when I can!
(Dropped a “house”battery today cracking the case, but that’s ok because it was pretty much toast anyway)
Let me know if and when you place your order and how and who you talked to so I can do the same
No hurries no worries

Hey,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. My son is putting his Honda vaulkyie back together, I'm kinda part of the operation. Age and wisdom in these matters are needed to keep the reassembly going in some semblance of order. Plus I tore a ligament on my right knee it really hurts, can't kneel down. Operation I think. So I lol call geno tomorrow and order them I'll see if he'll give us a little break if ordered and picked up together. I'll get back to you tomorrow night ok?
If he can't give us a break, I'm still going to get them. Alright, we'll talk soon ok ? DJ out

Well,
We ordered our windshields. No break on price. That's ok. Picked up at the company in Elkart,in, my pair with the big locking rubber, 1530.00 not to bad. 750 per side, and 20 bucks for the locking rubber, 33 ft. My rubber is in very good shape. The corners are where the ripping starts. Now we need a warm day, some help from my sons, pizza, Pepsi for me beer for the guys, and if the gods of glass are smiling, I'll only need 2 windshields. Been there done that, not so good. We lol take a video for posterity sake. DJ

Sounds like a reasonable price giving the size of the glass, keep us posted with pictures of the install, Regards, Bob
