Loving this big ol' Classic! Still have this 'stupid' grin on my face all the time, it's even worse when I get closer to the Airstream! Does it ever go away? I sure hope not!

Thanks, Derek

That would have been us. We cruised through there and saw some sites a few weeks ago. You can follow our trip here http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...oad-79445.html We will be heading through Sandy Hook, Conn. in another week or two but not sure what route we will take. Right now we are in Nova Scotia heading toward New Brunswick and maybe Prince Edward Island.

Cheers, Dan

We saw an early moho yesterday on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. It looked to be about 26' but I just caught a glimpse of it in somebody's yard and there was traffic behind me and nowhere to stop. It was just south of North Shore.

Cheers, Dan

Well guys how about this one? We were heading to the ferry from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island when the wife yelled to turn around. Actually we were in a traffic circle and I had to go around again to get to the visitor center where this was parked. It turned out the WBCCI caravan from Newfoundland had just ended this morning and this couple was going to New Brunswick. Their names were, if I got them correct, Julian & Lynn Clements. Their WBCCI no. is 224 so I assume one of them was a past int. pres. Anyway we chatted for a few minutes and went on our way. This is three classic mohos spotted on Nova Scotia in one week.

Cheers, Dan

The plaque by the door said is was a 1994. It looked like they just washed it. You can see the bugs on my windshield and I washed the windsield about 100 miles before the picture. For daytime driving I was amazed at all the bugs.

Cheers, Dan

I almost bought one of the "last of the breed" years ago, but passed when I realized our favorite little forest service campgrounds would be impossible to land at. I sure wanted one, though!

Why does nobody make curved solar panels?

Here's Bess getting her tune-up at my mechanic's prior to us leaving next week. He only works on classic rigs, so Bess is at home. I decided to excercise the gen set and run the roof airs, here's the amount of moisture after a few minutes. I know my drains work!

I saw one near Ventura (CA) this afternoon on the way home from looking at an Argosy.. It was parked across the street from the ocean on hwy 101.. Looked like it had been sitting there a while perhaps but was hard to tell since I was driving and only got a passing glance..

Key, the panels are Kyocera 130's and can be angled(tho' I never have done so in the 4 years we have had them)...the controller is a Blue Sky Solar Boost 2000E...connected to 2(soon to be 4, we hope) 29 series AGMs...currently(), we can run anything but the micro/convection, the coffee maker, and the ac(personally, if I have to run the ac, I shouldn't be there)...

This part of the Rockies is known as the San Juan Mountains...mike

Hi Mike,

If you google "thin film solar panels" you will find that such things do exist, and I've been thinking about covering the entire roof of my 325 with them.

I've lived "off grid" in a solar/wind powered home for the past 27 years, so I think about trying to set up my moho in a similar way. Since my rig came to me without a generator, I wonder about filling that hole with batteries rather than another mechanical headache. While the practical aspects of mounting a wind turbine on the moho are amusing to say the least, the trick with flexible PV mats is to get them attached in such a way that they won't peel off at highway speeds. I'm not sure about achieving great adhesion with all of the raised rivet heads that we have when it comes to glueing something down.

Old Land Rovers featured what was called a "tropical top". This was basically a shield that was attached to the main roof on standoffs that left an inch or so in between. Cooling air could flow between them, and the lower roof would always be basically in the shade. We all know how hot our metal roofs can get, so adapting this concept might be an interesting way to solve two problems at once.
Thin film mats are also delicate in comparison to rigid panels, and are only about half as efficient.

Charly.
