Classic Motor home get together
They all gouge at about $4 a gallon. I try to use places that deliver residentially for about $2.50 when convenient. Like sitting in my dads driveway when they deliver his home propane or at their terminal. Bottom line is its not really worth the time and effort to save a few bucks. The big RV shops just south on I25 are probably the most convenient.
Did find a ma an pa RV and outdoor sports shop in North Platt NE that we use on our trips to Michigan.
Camping World with your good SAMs card might be ok. Pretty easy in and out off I25 abeam Longmont.
Lots of construction on I 25 through Denver with locals driving like idiots. 36 from Boulder to Denver is a mess to be avoided. I'll try to put together a map.

If you take 287 south out of Ft Collins through Loveland and down to 66 to Lyons. Take 36 south and get on Broadway/7 through Boulder. It will become 93 all the way to Golden. Get on 470 on the south end of Golden. Wide open driving and it will put you on I25 to the springs avoiding the carnage.

Classic Motor home get together
This easterly route would work also. Parker road south of 470 is pretty decent and avoids the Parker divide on i25. Shouldn't be a problem. There are tolls on East 470. None on West.

Thats the route we are going to take. I wanted to get down to Lyons, havent been there since 1980. Its one of the areas we are thinking about moving to. Did my internship in Longmont way back then. Just loved that area.

Damn those pesky Airstream Gods Thor and Aluminatus as they looked down from their lofty perches and had this conversation......."What did that Mikey just say Thor???" 'cause I could'a sworn he said "she was runnin real good"...."Dang he's just not learning his lessin"
That little photo had me scrabbling through my PO's receipts........lower ball joints on both sides done 2013.......Here's hoping they didn't over torque them.
Glad to hear you came out of it okay, with little damage and a reaffirmation of how nice your fellow patriots are.
Could be worse....you don't want to know.
Cheers
Tony

Jake Farrell of Farrell Brothers Repair saved our tails Tony. He and all the folks that checked in on us while stranded. Even the county sheriff came by 3 times to make sure we were being well taken care of. People stopped and asked if we needed anything from town, groceries, or anything else. We stayed the night right where we were in the old rest stop, couldnt have picked a better place to be broken down on the road. We are still overwhelmed with the kindness we were shown.
So for those traveling the old US36 through Kansas, if you were ever to need mechanical help we cant say enough good about Farrell Brothers Repair in Axtell. Its just about 4 miles off the highway near the intersection of US36 and KS110. In between the towns of Seneca and Marysville. God bless those folks!

Hey Kota,
We are in Golden for a few days staying at the Clear Creek RV Park. Daughter lives in the LOHI neighborhood in Denver so its been real handy. Very cool little RV park for what it is, close in and easy access to the city. I am looking over the route to Cheyenne Mountain and was thinking about the following;
Hopping on 470 down to 85, then 85 to 105 and taking it south as far as we can until we pick up 25 north of Colorado Springs. I was thinking it might be more scenic and maybe a bit slower pace than taking 25 all the way down.......does this route sound reasonable as far as road conditions and what not? Thanks for your local input.
Mike

Classic Motor home get together
We just arrived. Took 470 to 25 to Nevada. Followed bitchin betty.
Pretty decent drive.
Campground is pretty empty. They let us grab #49 since the group sites are wide open.
Gate to NORAD is just up the hill. Probably a couple Russian ICBMs with our name on them!

Based on the occupancy of the campground, I'd say anyone wanting to make a last minute show wouldn't have a problem.

Mike,
I'm just reading the posts. So sad to see! Glad you are all ok! Also glad to see you are back on the road!
When I had some work done at my favorite shop in Redding, CA. a couple years back, the shop replaced the pins that connect the A-Arms to the frame. They said these parts wear out because the chassis get lubed with the tires on the ground. He said to raise the frame and let the suspension hang then grease all fittings. Kota mentioned this as well in one of his posts here!
Years ago, on one of the trips my Mom and Dad made to Minnesota, they had the ball joints replaced at a small shop in the town my Dad was born in. On another trip later that year, they were driving down a mountain somewhere and the ball joints on one side broke. All stayed together, but my dad said he almost lost it coming down the mountain before he could stop.
Issue was that the shop in Minnesota replaced the ball joints with the wrong ones...probably from a chevy pickup instead of the motorhome chassis. I still have the letters that went back and forth between my dad, the shop and attorneys, but the shop refused to pay!
Its so important to make sure the shops working on these P30s know the difference between them and a chevy pickup or even the bread trucks. The same goes for aligning the front-end. The MH specs are different from the bread truck specs. I have multiple printouts from my dad having alignments done in the past. Each one shows different specs! I asked the shop in Redding what specs the set all to before I let them do the work...they gave the right answer! He said the shop cut their teeth on P30 motorhome chassis back in the day!
I sure hope the rest of your trip is only eventful in a positive way! I sure wish I were heading to Colorado right now!
Dean
